It’s A Showdown In Green Bay!!!

It’s Monday!! That means we’re back for another showdown. The bad news is we have a few more days until the next one. Now, if you didn’t finish in the green for week two, I’m here to tell you to RELAX!! That’s what Aaron Rodgers would say, or maybe he would blame someone else for anything that went wrong. I’m not real sure, but regardless I’m here to ease your minds and get some of those main slate dollars back. So, let’s get to it!!!

When it comes to showdown slates, you have to tell a story with your lineup. Whichever game script you like for that team, you need that story to make sense for them. We all know lineup stacks and correlating our players is more popular than ever.

Vegas News: GB -12 o/u 49

The Packers are coming off of a complete embarrassment of a week one and a 38-3 loss to the Saints. As for the Lions, they’re coming off of a 41-33 loss to the 49ers. In my opinion, I wouldn’t want to be on the Lions defensive side of the ball. After the week one showing from the Packers and one of the worst games of Aaron Rodgers’ career you have to believe that he is coming out with a chip on his shoulder for this one. The stories that my lineups will be built around are Rodgers and the passing game having a BIG night. As always, we will have to monitor the injury news to see if it opens anything up for value, but for now, it looks like all the big names should be good to go.

Aaron Rodgers: ($11,400)– If I build 5 or 150 lineups, there are only a few that won’t have Rodgers in it. He is coming off a terrible week one, and he has heard all the talk about how bad his play was and if he is committed to the team or not. I think we see Rodgers take all of that out on the Lions defense and silence all of the critics from the last week. Now, if we see another bad performance from him then we may really start to ask those questions about his future outlook, but for now, let’s pump the brakes on all the hate and the questions about dropping Rodgers in your fantasy league. The only question I have about playing him is, how much in the flex and how much at Captain??

Aaron Jones: ($10,400)- He is another candidate for a big bounce back this week and he has a good matchup to do so. I think Jones has a good game on the ground and through the air. After signing the contract this off-season, I know the Packers are going to want to see the return on their money sooner than later. So, I think the Packers offense uses this Lions defense to get the kinks worked out, and they do that by getting their studs involved. The big three for Green Bay, I will try to jam them in and rotate them at Captain and build around them with value. I’m sure that could be a popular strategy, and hitting the right value pieces could be the deciding factor on how good of a night you have.

Davante Adams: ($11,800)– The only thing I’m going to say is to play Davante. There is nobody on the Lions that is going to slow him down. So, I won’t insult your intelligence anymore by telling you the three obvious plays of the slate.

AJ Dillon: ($3,000)- Dillon is one of the value plays on the Packers I can see having a solid game. I’m expecting this game to get ugly kind of early and that could lead to extra chances for Dillon again in an easier matchup. The big back could be getting a lot of carries to help grind the clock out late in the game, and that makes him an appealing value play to me. If this game gets ugly early, there is a chance for Dillon to see 15 plus touches, and at $3,000 that is too good to pass up.

Randall Cobb: ($2,000)- The other value play for the Packers side is Cobb. We know Rodgers and Cobb have good chemistry together, and that’s what lead to him forcing them to get Cobb back in a Packers uniform. The week one performance needs to be thrown out the window for this whole offensive unit. I would be willing to bet that we don’t see that from them again. He is the security blanket outside of Davante, and I think Rodgers will lean on him some. There is a chance that Cobb gets six-plus targets in this one. For a price tag of $2,000, that would be hard to pass up.

Jared Goff: ($10,000)- I expect the Lions to be down and having to pass most of the game. That puts Goff in play with his pass-catchers. He will be in pass-heavy game scripts all year, and he is going to be capable of putting up some good fantasy numbers. This game should be no different. While I will have some Goff exposure, he is not going to be a priority for me.

T.J. Hockenson: ($9,600)- Hockenson is the top receiving option for the Lions, and playing from behind is going to pump his numbers up this year. I wouldn’t argue if you wanted to have two of the big three on the Packers side and running it back with Hockenson instead of all three of them. From the Lions standpoint, I think Hockenson is the safest fantasy option they have and the more I think about it, the more I want to jam him in as many lineups as I can. It’s going to be Rodgers and Davante as the first guys in my lineups, and then alternating between Aaron Jones and Hockenson as the other big-salary guys.

D’Andre Swift: ($8,400)- You have to take a stand somewhere and this is mine. The report says he practiced fully and should be good to go. I know that’s what the report says, but anyone knows those groin injuries can be tricky. There is a chance he hurts it early in the game, or if the game gets out of hand early the coaches could decide to be cautious with him. There is also the possibility none of this happens.

Jamaal Williams: ($7,200)- This is the other reason I’m taking a stand against Swift. You can get around the same workload for less money from Williams. There could be some extra motivation from Williams going up against his old team. Those revenge narratives that we DFS players like to throw out could apply here. I’m going to buy into it, and not really for the revenge aspect of it, but for the fact that Williams is talented and going to see a solid workload each week. So, I will take the savings and the guy that hasn’t been battling a groin injury.

Amon-Ra St. Brown/ Trinity Benson: One of these guys is getting a solid opportunity in this one. We know Tyrell Williams is out, and that opens it up for one of them to become the number one receiver (outside of T.J. Hockenson). The Lions should be down, and Goff should be busy throwing again, so someone has to step up and take advantage of the opportunity. My bet is on St. Brown to be the one, but with their prices, I think you can alternate them as your value pieces with the top guys and try to get the right combo of them all.

Favorite Captains: Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, T.J. Hockenson

Contrarian Captains: Jared Goff, Jamaal Williams

Cheap Captains: Randall Cobb, AJ Dillon, Amon-Ra St. Brown

Others To Consider: Mason Crosby, MVS, Robert Tonyan

I have been playing Fantasy leagues for 15 years, and have been playing DFS since DraftKings started in 2012. It wasn't until almost 5 years ago I really started using it as way to bring in consistent extra income, and have since been a cash game grinder for the most part. When it comes to DFS I don't discriminate, even though most my experience is in NFL and NBA, I do also play NCAAF, NCAAB, MLB, MMA, and played some LOL once the sports world shutdown at first. When I'm not doing anything sports related I like to spend time with my wife and 2 daughters, and go fishing.
