Josh Allen is Under Pressure to Win Now

Every NFL season, the top quarterbacks face pressure to win. Either from a passionate fan base or matching expectations, the top passers need Super Bowls to fulfill their credentials. Heading into this upcoming season, Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen is widely known as one of the NFL’s biggest star passers. His games are often filled with long touchdowns, taking on linebackers, and running past the quickest defenses.

With three straight 4,000-yard, 30-touchdown seasons, Allen possesses one of the NFL’s strongest arms. His legs make him a coveted fantasy commodity in any league. Despite a 13-3 record, Allen’s 2022 season proved to be inconsistent. Allen’s first seven games consisted of 19 touchdowns and six interceptions. He threw 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions while battling an elbow injury.

Ken Dorsey replaced Brian Daboll as the Bills offensive coordinator. Mistakes hurt Allen and the Bills through the 2022 season. Questionable clock management cost the Bills in a Week 3 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Week 10’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings was even more stunning. An Allen fumble and overtime interception gave the Vikings a road Win. The Bills season ended in a disappointing loss to Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals rushed for 172 yards. Allen’s 26 rushing yards led the Bills.

The Bills won the AFC East the last three seasons. This year, the AFC East could be the NFL’s toughest division. While the AFC is filled with great quarterbacks, the AFC East is filled with good quarterbacks and defenses. The Miami Dolphins beat the Bills in Miami while giving Buffalo two real scares within the division. The New York Jets added Aaron Rodgers to a defense that only gave up one passing touchdown in two head-to-head meetings. Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots can never be overlooked.

A quarterback’s legacy is determined by winning Super Bowls. Buffalo has not reached a Super Bowl in 30 years. Recently, Patrick Mahomes has played in three Super Bowls – winning two of them. Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts both reached a Super Bowl.

Allen also needs help from Buffalo’s offensive weapons. Stefon Diggs is Buffalo’s No. 1 receiver. Gabe Davis did not live up to expectations while battling an ankle injury. Dalton Kincaid could be a critical receiving option as a rookie tight end.

Allen also finished second on the team with 762 rushing yards. James Cook and Damien Harris will be asked to save Allen from himself this year. Allen cannot be tasked with carrying the Bills.

No matter whether Josh Allen charges a linebacker or throws a long touchdown, Buffalo’s star needs January success. The Bills have won the last two regular-season games against the Chiefs. KC won both playoff meetings. There are no more excuses for the Bills in the playoffs. This upcoming season, Josh Allen faces the most pressure to win.
