MLB FanDuel Gut Feeling 7/18- 7PM Edition

Once again I found a way to advance into the FanDuel Survivor Pool.  It was a nail biter but I ended up three points above the cut line.  Round 5 is scheduled for Monday.  As always, be prepared for scratches on Saturday games, but it shouldn’t be as many as usual since it’s right after the All Star Break.  Here is my lineup for tonight.

Pitcher: John Lackey $8,800
The top pitchers tonight face some pretty good offenses so I figured I would use Lackey tonight in order to save some cash and improve other positions.  The Mets have been winning lately but they are still low scoring so even if Lackey doesn’t pick up a win he shouldn’t give up more than two runs and should go deep into the game with around five strikeouts or so.  A score around 10-12 points is what you should expect from Lackey tonight.

Catcher: Matt Wieters $2,800
Wieters playing in games is always a crap shoot, but he tends to play against lefties whom he hits much better than righties.  Be prepared with a backup option just in case.  Francisco Cervelli and Yadier Molina are my personal choices.

First Baseman: Albert Pujols $4,100
Pujols was hitless last night but I don’t see that repeating tonight against Rick Porcello and the Red Sox.  A rare chance for rain is in the LA area so keep an eye on that since this is a late start.  Carlos Santana and Prince Fielder are good replacement options.

Second Baseman: Cesar Hernandez $2,900
Although Hernandez has been hitless in five of his last six games, I like his chances tonight against the Marlins.  He’s got to snap out of it sometime right?  Hernandez is my Ultimate Gut Call.

Third Baseman: Kris Bryant $3,400
Bryant’s slugging percentage is higher against lefties and Braves lefty Manny Banuelos is on the mound.  Bryant has been up and down recently but he could make an impact tonight.

Shortstop: Jung-ho Kang $2,600
He homered for last night and he’s been one of the hotter hitting shortstops lately so he’s a good choice for this lineup.  Especially at his price point.

Outfielder: J.D. Martinez $4,400
With seven homers since July 4, Martinez has been killing it.  Chris Tillman is prone to giving up a lot of runs so while I’m not hanging on to the hope of another homer tonight Martinez should get an extra base hit or two.

Outfielder: Hunter Pence $2,900
Pence is another hitter who’s swinging a hot bat with a price under $3,000.  In cases like this you have to put him in, not a lot of players have been producing at his rate lately.

Outfielder: Billy Burns $3,100
Burns rounds out my lineup for tonight.  Phil Hughes doesn’t scare me, especially with a 4.83 road ERA. Burns should get on base multiple times, maybe even steal a base.

Confidence Level: 4 out of 5
Let’s hope Lackey and the low cost hot hitters come through.  Good luck everyone!
