MLB FanDuel Gut Feeling 7/2- Afternoon Edition

Hello all! I know it’s been a while but as a teacher by trade I’m off work for the next two months.  And I just turned 30 recently so I’ve been all over the place.  But I’m back with a lineup for this afternoon.  I’ve checked the lineups prior to putting this up so there shouldn’t be any changes unless it’s absolutely last minute.  Here’s my lineup for today:

Pitcher: Corey Kluber $11,000
This could go one of two ways.  Either the Indians ace continues the pitching dominance over the Rays that’s been on display the past three games or the Rays take advantage of the “due” theory and light Kluber up.  I think the former is more realistic.  Kluber should get at least seven strikeouts this start.

Catcher: Victor Martinez $3,400
With eight hits in his last five games (four of those hits are doubles), V-Mart is arguably the best catcher available in this four game slate.

First Baseman: Brandon Belt $3,000
I know he’s going against Jose Fernandez but that won’t scare me off of this pick.  Belt has been hitting well and Fernandez probably won’t pitch too deep into the game.  So you may have to wait a little bit to see some production but I think Belt will be fine.

Second Baseman: Dee Gordon $3,200
It seems like it’s been forever since Gordon went hitless in a game.  Matt Cain returns for the Giants today and he, like Fernandez, may show rust and Gordon should be able to take advantage.

Third Baseman: Giovanny Urshela $2,200
Urshela has been up and down recently but has had good outings his last two games against Rays relative to his price point.  I expect Urshela to have another good game (for his price point).  Urshela is my Ultimate Gut Call.

Shortstop: Jordy Mercer $2,600
With multi-hit games in five of his last seven outings, Mercer is swinging it better than most shortstops in the league.  Another multi-hit game could be in the works against the Tigers Kyle Ryan.

Outfielder: Christian Yelich $2,800
Yelich has scored 2.5 points or more on Fanduel the past four games, with a high mark of 7 points.  I’m going to ride this streak against the Giants this afternoon.

Outfielder: Michael Brantley $3,300
If you look at Brantley’s numbers against the Rays, his point output has declined as the series has gone on.  But I feel he will do well against Matt Moore today.

Outfielder: Starling Marte $3,500
He’s been destroying Tigers pitching this series (5-11 with a homer and double) and should continue that tear today

Confidence: 3.5 out of 5
I like how this lineup is shaping out going into today’s games.  There are several pitchers in this slate who are returning from injury so the point totals today should be interesting.  Good luck everyone!
