MLB FanDuel Gut Feeling 7/29

[do_widget “mailpoet subscription form”]

Last night was a great night for me on FanDuel! Over the last week or so I’ve been compiling pretty good lineups and that continued last night with a personal high score of 69.75, good enough for a top 75 finish in the main $1 GPP on FanDuel.  I entered a couple of other contests which I won as well.  I keep my betting pretty modest on a nightly basis in case you were wondering why you don’t see me throw down $20-$30 a night like some DFS players do.  I normally enter a free 20 team league early in the morning to place-hold a lineup, then after alterations I’ll put in cash/GPP games as I see fit, as you will see in my winning photo below:

With last night being such a high scoring night across most MLB games, tonight could be tricky.  It’s not out of the ordinary to see a team score a lot of runs one night only to score a couple the very next night.  Baseball is a funny sport like that.  With that being said this is my lineup for tonight and let’s hope the high scoring continues:

Pitcher: Masahiro Tanaka $10,000
The Yankees were supposed to start Tanaka last night but he had his start pushed back to tonight for rest purposes.  Tanaka has won his last three starts, but this will be his first road start in over a month.  The Rangers have the potential to score runs, but I think Tanaka continues his good string of starts tonight.

Catcher: Geovany Soto $2,300
Soto is batting .375 this month, including homers in three of his past five games.  Soto is a backup catcher, but could be in line for more starts if his hitting continues.  Have a backup plan in place in case he doesn’t get a start. Good options with the money left over with my lineup could land you Matt Wieters, Wilson Ramos, Caleb Joesph, or Yadier Molina.

First Baseman: Jose Abreu $3,400
Abreu has been over 4 FanDuel points in four of his past five games, and the White Sox face another Red Sox pitcher in Rick Porcello who’s having a bad season.  Abreu has the potential to have another big game.

Second Baseman: Johnny Giavotella $2,300
Riding a seven game hitting streak, Giavotella is the type of player you need when you are looking for a player that costs very little that can give you some production.  He’s also a leadoff hitter, which maximizes his potential for hits and runs scored.

Third Baseman: Alex Rodriguez $4,300
A-Rod is batting .333 with a homer and three walks against his former team.  He’s been in my lineup the past two nights and I’m going to plug him into my lineup again tonight against  pitcher Colby Lewis, who he’s batting .500 (2-4) against.

Shortstop: Freddy Galvis $2,600
Galvis goes against R.A. Dickey, who’s given up his fair share of hits and runs, although he’s been pitching better recently.  But the Phillies offense has been much better recently.  Something has to give and I expect Galvis to shine as my Ultimate Gut Call.

Outfielder: Melky Cabrera $3,600
It’s a beautiful thing when your baseball team’s two best hitters are white hot at the same time. And the White Sox are enjoying that with Abreu and Cabrera.  Cabrera is in my lineup for a second straight night against the Red Sox.  He’s batting .600 (6-10) in this series.

Outfielder: Adam Jones $2,900
A cleanup hitter under $3,000?  I’ll take Adam Jones as my value play, although he’s cooled down in July after a hot June, he has three hits in eight at-bats against the Braves in this series.

Outfielder: Curtis Granderson $3,200
Granderson is a leadoff hitter with power, with 15 home runs on the season so far.  Granderson is batting a career .400 with a homer against Padres starter Tyson Ross.  Granderson should get a couple of hits tonight.

Confidence Level: 4 out of 5
I’m confident that this lineup will get it done in a 50/50 format.  Like I said earlier, it’s tough to gauge where the high scoring will come from with so many teams having big nights on Tuesday.  If you have a nice bankroll going, throw this in a $1 GPP and see how it goes.  Good luck everyone!
