Pitching
Vince Velasquez $9,600 vs. NYM
The cat’s out of the bag on Velasquez. We were hoping he’d be kept a secret for a little while longer but after his 16 K’s against the Padres he’s becoming a household name in DFS. Velasquez’s numbers this year have been incredible, as he’s struck out 25 batters in just 15 innings pitched! Right now Velasquez is 4th in the MLB in strikeouts behind Syndergaard, Price, and Jose Fernandez…the only difference is that all three of those guys have started three games and Velasquez has started just two! Velasquez took on the Mets in his first start of the season and pitched a gem, grabbing his first win of the season, while striking out 9. Considering how well Velasquez has pitched this season, $9,600 actually seems a bit cheap tonight.
Francisco Liriano $9,800 vs. SD
Strasburg just hasn’t been getting the strikeouts that we’re accustomed to seeing from him and he’s $11,000 tonight….pass. The Padres have struggled all season, as they are hitting just .222 as a team(even with 3 outlier games at Coor’s field) Liriano actually pitches considerably better on the road than at home, as his road ERA was 2.22 in 2015, while it was just 4.44 at home. Vegas has the Pirates winning this game handily, as they are -139 favorites on the road, Liriano should have an easy outing against the Padres in pitcher-friendly Petco Park.
Sneaky GPP Play- Logan Verrett
Lineup
Prince Fielder $4,500 vs. HOU
Prince has been in a slump all season. His average has fallen below the Mendoza line and he’s hit just one home run, but nothing gets a player out of a slump like facing a pitcher that they’ve had past success against. Fielder is 5 for 13 against Feldman with 1 HR with 8 RBIs, and in fact the entire Rangers lineup has had great success against Feldman, so we’re definitely targeting a Ranger’s stack for cash games.
Rougned Odor $3,900 vs. HOU
Vegas has the projected run total for the Rangers at 4.81 tonight, which is the highest on the 14 game slate. Odor struggled to start the year, but since has hit extremely well for Texas over the past week or so. Along with Prince, Odor is a lefty taking on a righty, so gotta like the matchup for the entire Texas lineup(Andrus, Fielder, DeShields)
Giancarlo Stanton $4,200 vs. WAS
DraftKings has lowered Stanton’s price a bit because he’s taking on the most expensive pitcher on the slate tonight, Stephen Strasburg. Stanton is coming off of a 23 point outing last night and has faired very well against Strasburg in his career(.406 with 3 home runs and 6 doubles) Besides Valasquez, Strasburg will be the highest owned pitcher on the slate, so Stanton makes for an excellent GPP play at a relatively cheap price.
Corey Seager $3,400 vs. ATL
As always, there aren’t a lot of great fantasy options outside of Correa and Story at short, but at just $3,400 tonight Seager has excellent potential against Williams Perez. Lefties batted .303 against Perez last season with a .387 OBP. Perez has really struggled this season as he’s given up 7 runs in just 9 innings pitched with a 1.78 WHIP. Although they are playing at a pitcher’s park, a Dodger’s lefty stack looks great for cash games.
