NBA DFS DraftKings Lineup Advice 1/4/21

NBA DraftKings Lineup 1/4/21 brought to you by
CraftBeerClub.com

The NBA season has been a good one so far, in my humble opinion, and now with the NFL regular season ending, there will be an influx of players joining us in the NBA world of DFS. I bring some good news, the NBA Spreadsheet is almost ready for Primetime, and this year it will embedded right here on the site. No need to click the link that takes you somewhere else.

I still have a few kinks to work out but look for its release over the next few days. For those of you that have never used it, I hope you will give it a try this season.

Without further ado, today’s picks…

NBA DFS Legend

Nothing But NetMy top plays of the night at his position.
DunkA Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court ShotOtherwise known as a “punt play.” A Low-priced, high-upside player.
Blocked Shot A player I’ll be avoiding. Otherwise known as “Fading.”

Guards

Nothing But Net | Trae Young (ATL) $9,800 vs. NY

A couple of sub-par games has Young under 10k tonight, and he gets a great matchup with the Knicks who give up over 50 DK points to point guards on the season.

Dunk | De’Aaron Fox (SAC) $8,200 @ GS

Fox is in a great spot tonight. The Warriors are the second fastest team in the league, only the Bulls play faster, meaning more possessions and more potential points. To add insult to injury, the Warriors defense is bottom three overall and gives up over 52 DK points to point guards on the season.

Half-Court Shot | Ben McLemore (HOU) $3,600 vs. DAL

McLemore is only in play if James Harden is out. McLemore is making his season debut Monday, and there is an outside chance he starts this game if Harden doesn’t play. Whether he starts or not, if Harden does in fact sit, McLemore should play enough minutes to pay off his $3,600 salary.

Blocked Shot | Jaylen Brown (BOS) $8,300 @ TOR

The Raptors are a solid defensive team and Brown is getting to that salary range where I think he might be a bit too expensive — unless he has a great matchup. He does not have a great matchup, so I’m fading him.

  2. Victor Oladipo $7,000 @ NO

Forwards

Nothing But Net | Ben Simmons (PHI) $9,100 vs. CHA

Only three teams give up more points to point guards on the season than the Hornets. I know Simmons isn’t a traditional point guard, and $9,100 is a steep price to pay, but his unique position availability as a guard or forward on DraftKings — combined with his 50-point upside — makes him a good play.

Dunk | Tobias Harris (PHI) $7,600 vs. CHA

The Hornets are dead-last in points allowed to power forwards where Harris will find himself at times in this game. He has a couple of 50 point games already this season, giving him tremendous upside at his $7,600 price tag.

Half-Court Shot | De’Andre Hunter (ATL) $5,200 vs. NY

Hunter has been super consistent thus far this season. He doesn’t have huge upside, but at $5,200 he gives you solid production with some salary relief to fit in some studs.

Blocked Shot | Julius Randle (NY) $9,000 @ ATL

Maybe it’s me, but I just don’t feel comfortable paying 9k for Randle, a price he only exceeded once all of last season. I know, he has been playing well, and the stats say he should be over 9k, I’m just not to trust it yet.

  1. Gordon Hayward $7,300 @ PHI
  2. Jerami Grant $6,900 @ MIL

Centers

Nothing But Net | Nikola Vucevic (ORL) $8,800 vs. CLE

Vucevic is one of those players that can be very frustrating in DFS. It’s feast or famine with him. The Cavs are actually tough against the center position, but with Vucevic’s range behind the three-point line, he isn’t a true center. He is attempting a career-high 5.5 threes a game so far this season.

Dunk | Clint Capela (ATL) $6,100 vs. NY

Capela is still way underpriced at $6,100, especially against a Knicks team that gives up the second-most points to centers.

Half-Court Shot | Maxi Kleber (DAL) $3,900 @ HOU

Kleber played last night and had 25.25 DK points, and assuming he plays Monday in the back-to-back, he has a great matchup with the Rockets who give up 60-plus points per game to centers and/or power forwards.

Blocked Shot | Domantas Sabonis (IND) $9,500 @ NO

The Pelicans have completely flipped the script this season going from one of the fastest-paced teams last season to one of the slowest-paced teams this season, and thusly have played much better defense. Only two teams give up fewer points to centers than the Pels. The slow pace and good defense has me fading Sabonis.
