NBA DFS FanDuel Lineup Advice (12/2/2016)

After some exciting games on Thursday night, the Friday night slate consists of nine games of NBA action that should bring some more entertaining matchups with numerous games that are expected to be close according to Vegas. As always be sure to watch for late-breaking news before finalizing your lineup.

So, with that here are my FanDuel player recommendations for the Friday slate…

NBA DFS FanDuel lineup advice for December 2

Point Guards

Top Play

John Wall (WAS) $8,900

Wall consistently gets huge minutes for the Wizards and he will need to play big minutes again on Friday to help keep the Wizards close to the Spurs in San Antonio. Through the point guard is one of the best ways to attack the Spurs who have given up 4.3% more points and 5.9% more rebounds to point guards putting Wall in good position to flirt with a triple-double on Friday.

Value Pick

Dennis Schroder (ATL) $5,900

Schroder his coming off his best game of the season scoring 31 points with nine assists. The Hawks and Schroder return home Friday night after a long road trip and walk into a favorable matchup for point guards against the Pistons who have allowed increased production in points (+4.2%), rebounds (+9.0% and assists (+17.5%) this season.

Other Options: Kyle Lowry (TOR) $8,700 / Derrick Rose (NYY) $6,400 / Rajon Rondo (CHI) $5,900

Shooting Guards

Top Pick

Dwyane Wade (CHI) $6,900

I originally had James Harden in this spot but after a double overtime win over the Warriors on Thursday, I have some concerns about the Rockets energy level Friday night even though they are in a great matchup. Enter Wade, who will be facing his former teammate LeBron James and the Cavaliers playing on the second game of a back-to-back. It is not a plus matchup for shooting guards but look for Wade to rise up to the challenge.

Value Pick

Jamal Crawford (LAC) $3,800

When looking to pay up for some high-priced stars you will of course need to get some value plays. Crawford has one primary skill which is to score points and he will get a favorable matchup to do just that against the Pelicans who allow 6.8% more points to opposing shooting guards. After only playing 21 minutes on Thursday, look for Crawford to go return to close to 30 minutes on Friday in a close game against the Pelicans.

Other Options: James Harden (HOU) $11,500 / Avery Bradley (BOS) $6,500 / Zach LaVine (MIN) $6,000

Small Forwards

Top Pick

Jimmy Butler (CHI) $8,800

Feels strange to be recommending two Bulls in a game against the Cavaliers but Butler comes in as the top play at the small forward position. Butler is incredibly consistent scoring at least 30 FanDuel points in 11 straight games and has the upside to score 50-60 FD points in a battle against the Cavaliers.

Value Pick

Danilo Gallinari (DEN) $6,000

Gallinari returned to the starting lineup playing 36 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday. He should get plenty of scoring opportunities on Friday night against a tired Rockets team coming off a double overtime game on Thursday. The Rockets have allowed more points (+13.7%) to opposing small forwards this season which plays right into Gallinari’s strength.

Other Options: LeBron James (CLE) $9,700 / Rudy Gay (SAC) $7,200 / Robert Covington (PHI) $4,500

Power Forwards

Top Pick

Blake Griffin (LAC) $9,000

After missing a game and being limited to 31 minutes in his last game, Griffin should return to around 35 minutes and put up big numbers in a close game with a favorable matchup against the Pelicans who have been crushed by opposing power forwards this season allowing more points (+7.2%), rebounds (+13.9%) and assists (+29.3%).

Value Pick

LaMarcus Aldridge (SA) $6,600

Aldridge was held to just five points against the Mavericks on Wednesday but should return to this solid, consistent production on Friday night at home against the weak Wizards interior defense that has allowed opposing power forwards to score more points (+6.1%), rebounds (+2.1%) and blocks (+26.5%).

Other Options: Anthony Davis (NO) $12,300 / Kristaps Porzingis (NY) $7,900 / Tobias Harris (DET) $5,700

Centers

Top Pick

Demarcus Cousins (SAC) $10,900

Cousins should be in line for a big game on Friday as he gets a great matchup that could allow him to explode against the Celtics who is a plus matchup for opposing centers allowing more points (+6.0%), rebounds (+10.0%) and assists (+15.8%).

Value Pick

Joel Embiid (PHI) $6,200

Embiid is should play against the Magic on Friday and has reported had his minutes’ restriction increased to 28 per game. Embiid can do a lot of damage with just four additional minutes which may make him the preferred choice at center in Cash games.

Other Options: Karl-Anthony Towns (MIN) $9,400 / DeAndre Jordan (LAC) $7,200 / Nikola Vucevic (ORL) $7,100

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
