NBA Fanduel 1/25/15

I’m writing this post fairly early on Saturday night, so I have no idea how my squad did last night. I’ll be unable to write or update anything tomorrow because it’s my daughters 2 year birthday party. It’s a pretty full slate today with 11 games, including 2 day games.

I was undecided if I wanted to play the all day slate, or stick to the late games only. I decided to go with the all day slate because I wanted to use Rose before his price goes up. I only have 2 players from the early games, so if you wanted to switch out Rose and JR. Smith, you could still use this lineup for the late games.

  • I was halfway thru writing this post about the point guard position, and I had decided to take Wall. Then I realized he is playing the 2nd game of a back to back in Denver. I’ve learned my lesson on taking anyone, no matter how hot they are, playing in Denver on a back to back. So I switched it up and went with Lowry.

Coming off a 3 game road trip, Lowry and the Raptors return home. It also looks like Jennings will not be playing in this game, so Lowry will be matched up with a D.J. Augustine. He should be able to make his life miserable. I expect a big game from Lowry.

As I noted earlier, I want to ride Rose and his relatively cheap price while I can. Rose’s game from Dallas doesn’t look so great on paper, but the eye test tells me he is back. He missed a couple “bunnies” at the front of the rim, and Dallas decided to show up on defense and forced him into 5 turn overs. Had he hit those bunnies, and limited his turn overs, his FDP would have been closer to 40.

  • I went value at the 2 guard spot. Eric Gordon’s price has slowly risen over the past couple of games. He is still relatively cheap and has a good matchup at home versus the Mavericks. He should score around 30 FDP tonight.

JR Smith at the other guard spot makes me nervous. Just when you think he has found his game, he goes back to being JR. Smith. Shumpert will cut into his minutes some, but not enough that JR won’t get his shots. Even if the Cavs gave him 12 minutes, he’d find a way to jack up 12 shots. He is a bit of a risk, and I considered downgrading him to Afflalo, but there wasn’t anyone I wanted to upgrade with the extra $600.

  • After a bad game versus Chicago for the entire Spurs team, Kawhi returned to form against the Lakers. I know, it’s the Lakers, but if it was only scoring that he does, I’d say ok, it’s the Lakers, but Kawhi fills the stat sheet with a little bit of everything. He should be around the 40 FDP mark again.

Wanted to go Wiggins here, but he has struggled lately and Atlanta plays great defense. So I decided on Chandler Parsons, allowing me to upgrade my center position. Parsons isn’t flashy, but he is consistent. I didn’t like the other 2 options in the price range, Green and Harris.

Green hasn’t played well recently and his price hasn’t dropped enough to make me want to take him. Harris has been benched after missing 5 games, and there are rumors he wants to go to New York. He is still too expensive.

  • Anyone who reads my blog regularly knows, I love me some MANimal. He is like Marshawn Lynch in a basketball jersey. He plays violent and I love it. He is pretty much a lock for a double double, and rarely disappoints.

With Bass I was a little leery , as it’s not a good matchup with Golden State, but it’s hard to ignore his value. He is getting the minutes and is outplaying his $4,400 price tag. His tag allows me to keep my lineup in the mid range throughout. I only have 2 players below the 6k mark. It’s pretty a balanced lineup for a 50/50.

  • As I mention earlier with Parsons over Wiggins, it allowed me to upgrade from Jordan Hill to Tyson Chandler. Chandler coming back to New Orleans, even if it has been awhile, should infuse some motivation. He’ll be able to stay on the floor since Pels rarely go small. Anthony Davis will be on the floor for 40 minutes, Tyson will have to play 39 of them.

It’s now the 4th quarter of this Wizards Blazers game, and it’s looking pretty good for my lineup. Currently in 4th in an 80 team 50/50. It’s nice to get back in the win column. Hopefully it continues Sunday and beyond into a winning streak.
