Writing this at 9:30 Thursday night, and so far so good with my 50/50 lineup. The GPP lineup I put on instagram and Facebook, I entered into a league and I’m currently in first, despite Beal getting hurt. I didn’t put it into a GPP tonight.

Hopefully that continues for the rest of the night as I start doing my research for tomorrow’s slate of games. Twelve games on tonight’s slate! There is going to be plenty to choose from tonight, so I’ll do my best to sift through it for you.

Tonight I had a hard time narrowing down my Top 10, there are just so many good plays tonight that I couldn’t fit it in in just 10. So I have a 10 and a 10a, but I could have gone Top 15! So let’s get started.

TODAY’S TOP 10 PLAYS

10) SF Kawhi Leonard Leonard is the “Do Everything” guy for the Spurs. Defense/Rebound/Score/Assist/Steal/and even blocking shots. The Heat are tough on SF’s according to Rotogrinders.com, but you can’t always just look at the numbers, sometimes its the opponents quality at the position. Also, playing in the East will help inflate some of those numbers, as you’re just not facing tough opponents night in and night out. Point and case, the Knicks are the number 1 team versus SF. If Kawhi was playing the Knicks, he’d be a must start. So I’m going against what the stats say and rolling with Kawhi.

10a) SG Eric Bledsoe I went back and forth between Kawhi and Bledsoe, trying to decide who makes the Top 10, and since I couldn’t decide, I put them both in. I’m writing this pre-Portland vs Phoenix tonight, so this may change. I had Bledsoe in my Top 10 the other night too, and I explained this guy has a very high ceiling and a very low floor. Not many guys can get you 50+FDP on any given night, but also throw out more than one 20FDP pointer. Pretty good matchup with Utah here as well.

9) PF Paul Milsap Best in the East versus Best in the West. This has the makings of an epic game, with lots of fantasy implications. The Bulls laid a blueprint on how you beat Golden State, and that’s play big, expect them to miss shots eventually, and grab every rebound. Atlanta has 2 guys that, like Gasol and Noah, can pull it off.  There will be a ton of shots in this one, which mean rebounds and put backs for Milsap. Anything less than a strong double double will be a disappointment.

8) PF Zach Randolph This is a risky pick in that there is blow out potential, but the last time Z-bo had less than 30 minutes was January 24th versus another bad team in the 76ers, and in his 27 minutes he still had 37FDP. He has missed a double double just once in his last 10 games, and in that game he missed it by 1 rebound.

7) PG Chris Paul Paul is coming off a bad game versus the Cavs. No one really showed up to play last night. Tonight, they get the Raptors, who over the last 3 weeks have been a bottom 10 team versus the PG position. Paul won’t let the Clippers lose 2 straight in the East, he’ll want to show that they are better than that. I expect him to come out guns a-blazing. 20/10/5/5 is my prediction, the last 5 being steals.

6) C Al Horford See Paul Milsap at number 9. Dude is a beast.

5) PF Blake Griffin I’m expecting CP3 to have a big game, and with that big game will come a big game from Blake. Having 2 straight so-so games means he is due, and I want to be on that train when he arrives. I expect nothing less than 40FDP from him tonight. Raptors don’t have an answer for him.

4) SF Lebron James A Top 10 can’t be complete with out Lebron James making an appearance. He played 28 minutes last night versus the Clippers due to the blow out, and he still had 40FDP. The pacers are a good defensive team, and they are Top 5 versus the SF position, but the Pacers and Lebron have a history dating back to his Heat days. Even if the Pacers aren’t exactly title contenders anymore, they will give Lebron their best, and he will give his best in return.

3) PG Steph Curry This will be my third player from this game in my Top 10, and I probably could have had 1 or 2 more. Having 6 straight 40+FDP performances, with one over 50 and another over 60, there is very little argument when deciding whether or not to get him into you’re lineup.

2) PF Anthony Davis When a guy puts up 39FDP and you’re disappointed, you know this guy is good. He is playing the same team he had 39 against, but I’d expect a lot more. They’ll find more ways for Davis to score this time around.

1) Russell Westbrook I’m assuming that Durant will sit this one out, but I really have no idea if he will or not, so for now I’m putting Westbrook at number 1. If Durant plays, he may fall back a few spaces, but will still be in the top 10. Durant would also make the Top 10 if he plays, but he’d be towards the back-end until we see what he can do coming off a toe injury. Westbrook had 59FDP versus the Pels the other night, and if he is forced to carry the load again, then let him carry your team as well.

TONIGHT’S DUNKS AND PASSES

DUNKS

  • PG Elfrid Payton A mainstay on the Dunk list, he gets the Lakers one night after dropping a 35FDP on the Spurs. The bigger story is he played 40 minutes. If he gets 30+ minutes against the Lakers, he will be well worth his $5700 price tag.

  • PG Marcus Smart He is starting and getting a ton of minutes, couple that with a matchup versus the 76er’s, and thats a recipe for success. At $4900 you’re not gonna find a better value.

  •  SG OJ Mayo Another staple of the Dunk list, this guy continues to play big for a good price. He has finally eclipsed the 5K mark, but he is still a value at $5100.

  • SG Avery Bradley Another guy at the $5100 mark is Bradley. Not often you can find a guy getting 30+ minutes a game, and scoring double-digit points in 9 of his last 10, at this price. If he continues, his price won’t stay down here long.

  • PF Patrick Patterson Yet again, another staple in my Dunk list. how this guy hasn’t had higher ownership percentages is beyond me. Though not quite the value he once was, he is still only $5000, and has 3 straight 28FDP nights, and his minutes have gone up as well.

  • PF Jason Smith I feel like I could just go back and copy paste some of my previous Dunk lists, as there are so many repeaters on this list tonight. Smith has a good matchup with the Nets, even though the Nets play the PF position well, he should still be able to put up 20-25FDP.

  • C Timofey Mosgov This guy has quietly been doing his thing. He can get you 20-25FDP with only getting 20-28 minutes a game. Versus the Pacers he could get closer to 30, and his production will benefit. Look for 13/10/3 blocks tonight.

PASSES

  • PG TY Lawson The Pistons are a top 5 team versus the PG position, and you couple that with his already inconsistent play and his $8400 price tag, no thanks.

  • PG Kyle Lowry The Clippers are a top 5 team versus the PG position, and you couple that with his inconsistent play….stop me if you heard this line before. Hasn’t scored over 40 in his last 10 and playing a tough defense, at $8000, I’ll Pass.

  • SG James Harden Say What???? Ok, before you go and get all bent out of shape, hear me out. Do I think Harden will have a bad game? No, I don’t. Do I think for his price, in a tough matchup, you’ll get your full ROI? No, I don’t, and that’s why I’m passing. The Bucks play great defense overall, and they like to limit possessions, so Harden will still get his, but just not enough to justify his price.
  • SG Klay Thompson Klay has slowed down in recent weeks, scoring over 30FDP just once in his last 4 games, and his last 2 road games were 16 and 13 FDP nights. Put all that together, with a tough matchup with Atlanta, and I’ll pass on Klay.

  • SF Andrew Wiggins A little farther down the menu in terms of price then I normally go for a pass, but I like all the SF’s above him, so here he is. Explanation. Memphis. That’s it, moving on.

  • PF Tim Duncan Bet you thought I was going to say Kevin Love again, huh? So why Timmy? Two words and a number. Back 2 Back. Doesn’t mean 100% that he won’t be good, but I’m not risking it.

Through the course of writing this blog, my lineup has wet the bed. I went into the late night lineups with Parsons, Collison, Aldridge, Barea, and McLemore, and up 20FDP over the cut line, and every one of them is letting me down. Collison got hurt, Barea is doing ok, but the other 3 are killing me!

This is why I hate this sometimes. I felt so good about my lineup going into tonight, and no matter how much research you do, a couple bad breaks and you’re done. Hopefully everyone had better luck then I did.

On the other hand, the alternative lineup I posted on Facebook and Instagram is doing well, so I have that to fall back on. If any of ya’ll went to Instagram for my alternative lineup, I apologize, I didn’t check the cropping before posting. When I realized you couldn’t read half the lineup, it was too late. Downfall of having a 2-year-old, she requires a lot of attention, never looked at instagram after posting it.

I haven’t finalized a lineup yet, but I’ll be posting it up sometime today, so check back. In the meantime, you can follow the blog by entering your email on the main page or follow me at one or more of these sites:

Ok. Guys. Got my finalized lineup. Some guys I’ve talked about above, so I didn’t. I’ll give a quick recap of the players I didn’t talk about under the picture.

TONIGHT’S STARTING 9

(null)

Jordan Clarkson Very good value at the point against a weak Orlando team. Had a tough game versus the Bucks, but that’s to be expected. I’m expecting him to get back to close to 30FDP tonight.

Nick Young I struggle with this one, as I’m not a fan of his, but he is all the Lakers really have in terms of scorers. He is going to put up a lot of shots, and you couple that with Orlando being the worst team by far versus shooting guards over the last 3 weeks, and I had to take the value.

Khris Middleton Two 40 FDP nights in a row will bring some attention. Middleton, like young, is one of the few scoring threats on his team. Maybe he won’t get 40 again, but I’ll take 30.

Josh Smith Another guy I hate to trust, but he has been balling lately. He gets all the peripherals as well as score, so I’m rolling the dice with him.

Greg Monroe Only 2 games under 30 in his last 10, and they were both 28, so he is consistent. Denver is dead last in defense vs Power Forward, I expect big things from him tonight.

That’s wraps up today’s blog. Feel free to comment with your questions or post your lineups.

Good Luck!
