NBA Fanduel Lineup and Advice 3/4/15

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
NBA Games for 3/4/15

Man, look at that slate of games! I’m back from my one day hiatus from Fanduel. I admit I ran a few lineups last night, and things looked good early on, but ultimately fell a little short.

I’m going to chalk those up to lack of research on my part. I played conservative though and didn’t go all in.

Ok, enough about me, let’s get to why you’re here…

A ton of good plays here. I’ll give you a little insight on how I start my research. First I start out just going position by position and writing down names of players I think have good match ups. No statistics, just gut feeling, or strictly based on  my “off the top” knowledge.

After I have a pretty good list, then I start really diving in to their matchup, looking at defense versus their position, their recent performances, their past performances versus their current opponent, the over/under of the game in general, and finally I just factor in my gut.

I whittle that list down to 10 names that I feel for one reason or another has the best chance to perform well. Why am I telling you this? Because tonight’s preliminary list consisted of 27 players! Some of those guys are cheaper options that will end up on the Dunks list, but my list has rarely been that big. Needless to say, tonight is going to be a tough one to figure out. I think I’ll be sticking to more cash games then GPP’s tonight. Just too many options.

So let’s get to that list….

Tonight’s Top Ten Plays

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Andrew Wiggins

10) SF Andrew Wiggins $6700 Wiggins isn’t a flashy option by any means. His upside is very limited, but his consistency and matchup is what I like about him tonight. Denver’s defense is awful and they  seem lost. They just fired their coach mid-season, and their star players haven’t been performing, they are just a mess. Now, when I said his upside was limited, I meant in general, but he scored 53 Fanduel points versus this Denver team. Doubt he’ll repeat that, but if you can get 35 you’ll be happy.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Serge Ibaka

9) PF Serge Ibaka $8200 Can you imagine how good this team could be if their 3 stars could play as good together as they do apart? Ibaka since Durant went down has been ballin, and then took it to another level when Westbrook was out too. Westbrook is expected back, but Ibaka will still be a huge part of their offense, and he has a great matchup with Philly.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Rudy Gobert

8) C Rudy Gobert $7200 Gobert has been pretty good recently(as I write this, his game versus Memphis is still going on), going over 30 for 4 straight games, and now he gets the Boston Celtics. The Celts are bottom 3 versus the center position over the last 3 weeks, so I would set Gobert’s minimum expectation at 35 Fanduel points. On a side note, have you heard his nick-name? The Stifle Tower. That’s pretty awesome.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Al Jefferson

7) C Al Jefferson $8200 I mention above that the Celtics were bottom 3 versus the center position. Well, they can thank the Nets in part for that. The Nets are thee worst over the last 3 weeks. So Jefferson literally can’t get a better matchup . His last 2 games were also good match-ups. He scored 40 and 49 in those games. Queue him up for a big night again.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Tyreke Evans

6) PG Tyreke Evans $8300 On paper, this is a tough match up with the Pistons. Pistons defend the point guard position better than anyone over the last 3 weeks. This is more of a gut call then anything else. The numbers say Evans will struggle, as a Pels fan, I’m saying he comes up big. That could be the fan in me, so buyer beware.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
DeAndre Jordan

5) C DeAndre Jordan $9700 His price tag is climbing up there pretty steep, and it’s getting harder and harder to roster him, but you can’t deny his production. Ten straight games with double-digit rebounds, 9 straight over 15! Now Portland is a great rebounding team, in fact they allow the second least rebounds to centers over the last 3 weeks. So this is a bit of strength versus strength. I’m not betting against DeAndre.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Russell Westbrook

4) PG Russell Westbrook $12000 Well, it turns out Russell can be stopped, just dent his face. Jokes aside, I couldn’t keep him out of the top ten, though I’m going to put a buyer beware tag on him. We just don’t know how he is going to come back. I’m guessing he comes back angry, like if the Incredible Hulk was a point guard, but maybe he comes back as just Bruce Banner? 12k is a lot to spend but it is a great matchup.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Lebron James

3) SF LeBron James $1100 James would have been my number play yesterday if I had done a Top Ten. He didn’t disappoint, just wish it could have been a closer game so he could have been even better. I don’t expect them to blow-out the Raptors, and the Raptors push the pace, so Lebron will get plenty of chances.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Ricky Rubio

2) PG Ricky Rubio $8300 Rubio has proven over the past two games he is matchup proof. Memphis? No problem. Chris Paul, one of the best point guard defenders?  How about aTriple Double? Tonight his job gets considerably easier with a matchup with Denver. Denver has played statically better defense versus the point then they had been, but being better than second worst isn’t saying much. Put him down for 40+.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/4/15
Chris Paul

1) PG Chris Paul $10300 Speaking of things getting easier for a top-notch point guard. The Trailblazers are the 6th worst team versus the point guard on the season,  5th worst over the last 3 weeks, and 3rd worst over the last week. After Wednesday they might be dead last. I’m expecting Chris to be over 50 again.

Dunks of the Night

  • PG George Hill $6300 Has scored 32 or more in his last 3 games. One of them he had 49. Great matchup with New York.
  • Jeremy Lin $5200 I wanted to call out Lin tomorrow for everyone as a great play, but in my limited time, it slipped my mind. I had him on one lineups yesterday to the tune of 45 points! Tough matchup though, Miami Top 6 versus the point.
  • SG KCP $5300 Don’t make me spell out his name please. He had a down game versus the Wizards, who are a good defensive team. New Orleans is not. At least not in the back court with Evans and Gordon. Norris Cole is a good defender, but he comes off the bench.
  • SG Will Barton $4500 I had him in that same lineup with Jeremy Lin, and he is struggling(game is in the fourth as I write this), but from the looks of the score, the Bucks controlled the pace of the game. Barton will get back to being good versus Minnesota.
  • SF Danilo Gallinari $5200 His price tag isn’t as attractive as it once was, but he still offers value.
  • SF PJ Tucker $5600 Man Deng managed to burn me twice. First, I owned him the night he had 6 Fanduel points. Then, I passed on Tucker cause I thought Deng would guard him and slow him down… Tucker scored 36 Fanduel Points. Has a great matchup with Orlando.
  • PF Cody Zeller $5000 Cody has been playing well lately, and his price tag hasn’t caught up yet. Nets are bottom 6 versus power forwards over the last 3 weeks.
  • Patrick Patterson $4800 I had him in my lineup the other night, and he did not disappoint to the tune of 26 Fanduel points. The matchup isn’t great, but it’s not bad either.
  • C Alex Len $5200 Len had 28 Fanduel Points the other night before being thrown out of the game. He has great match-up with the Magic, and I expect him to play the whole game this time.

Passes of the Night

  • PG Steph Curry $10200 Ok, I’m not telling you to keep Curry out of your lineups, just be wary. Two straight games he had to have a huge second half to get near his value. Granted he is back home, I’m just giving him the buyer beware tag.
  • PG Damian Lillard $8700 As I mention earlier, Paul is a lock-down defender, Lillard could be good here, but I feel there are better options. Maybe as a contrarian GPP play he could be worth it, his ownership percentage will be low.
  • SG Eric Bledsoe $9000 He has a great matchup, I just can’t stand his huge disparity in his point totals, on a full slate I’m avoiding him, unless you shoot for his upside in a GPP.
  • PF Josh Smith $6300 He is playing Memphis, that is all.

That wraps up tonight’s post. I’d like a little feedback on My Starting 9 Segment. I’m thinking about discontinuing my posted lineup. I know anyone reading this blog, most likely, isn’t going to blindly just plug-in my lineup and hope for the best. Building a lineup, to me, is half the fun of playing Daily Fantasy.

So my thought is, instead of me posting my lineup, I could add another segment. One that I haven’t quite decided on. Maybe I could do a segment strictly on “Punt” plays for GPP’s?

I was also thinking of maybe a “Things You Should Know…But Don’t” segment that would include things that maybe get over-looked, or statistical information that I discovered while doing my research like “Pau Gasol in the last 3 games versus the Wizards has averaged 38 points a game” that’s not a true stat, I just made it up, but something along those lines.

I’d love to hear your feedback. If you like the lineup being posted, or if you like one of my other ideas, or have an idea of something you would like to see, then please leave it in the comment section.

Also, as always feel free to ask me anything about your lineup, or who to play in the comments section as well.

On a side note, some of you that have been with me for a while and have register for the emails, you might notice lately that you are receiving 2 emails for the same post. I apologize, and I’m working on fixing the issue, bare with me, I’m not trying to spam you.
