NFL DFS DraftKings Value Plays – Week 7 (10/23/16)

Some value has begun to open up for Week 7 with some injuries updates starting to gain more clarity as the week has progressed. We also have a few different players this week that offer a fair amount of safety with a solid floor and some upside despite being priced at reduced rates. So with that let’s get to the Draftkings Week 7 value plays.

NFL DFS DraftKings Value Plays for Week 7

Quarterbacks

Kirk Cousins (WAS) @ DET $5,900

Cousins has produced at least 13 DraftKings points in all six games and has topped 18 points in four of those games. This week Cousins has a great matchup against the Lions who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season in a game that is expected to be close with a 49-point Vegas total. Cousins should be good for 3 TD passes this week and get at least three times his salary.

Colin Kaepernick (SF) vs TB $5,300

Kaepernick had a solid fantasy day in his first start of the season last week with 18 DraftKings points despite completing under 50% of his passes and throwing for just 187 yards and one touchdown. He has a high floor each week due to his rushing ability and should be able to improve on his passing this week against a Buccaneers defense allowing 271 passing yards and almost two touchdowns per game to opposing QBs. Kaepernick may also be asked to take on more of the offense in the red zone with Carlos Hyde out.

Running Backs

Tevin Coleman (ATL) vs SD $4,900

Coleman has averaged about 11-12 touches per week including 18 receptions for 320 yards through the air. This week he faces a Chargers defense that has allowed the most receptions and second most receiving yards to opposing RB this season. Coleman has scored at least 15 DraftKings points in four out of six games this season and is in a good position to exceed three times his current salary again this week.

Jacquizz Rodgers (TB) @ SF $4,300 (DailyFantasyNerd Value Play of the Day)

Rodgers should draw the start and be the workhorse back for the Buccaneers this week with Doug Martin ruled out. In Week 5 with Martin out, Rodgers had 35 touches for 20.9 DraftKings points. He will get great matchup this week against a 49ers defense that has allowed an average of 149 rushing yards and 25 receiving yards to opposing RB this season while giving up nine rushing touchdowns through six games. Rodgers should see a lot of touches this week and should capitalize on the opportunity against a bad defense in an up-tempo game.

Golden Tate (DET) vs WAS $4,900

Tate had a breakout game last week with eight catches for 165 yards and a score. He also received the most targets (10) that has had all season. The key to the increase in looks was largely due to the absence of pass-catching RB Theo Riddick, who I expect will not play again this week. Look for Redskins cornerback Josh Norman to focus on Marvin Jones, freeing up Tate to be heavily targeted in a good matchup against the rest of the Redskins secondary.

Tyrell Williams (SD) @ ATL $4,400

Williams is the Chargers most explosive WR and could be the healthiest wide out also with Travis Benjamin working through an injury. Williams could see shadow coverage by the Falcons top cornerback Desmond Trufant but I still expect to see Williams get plenty of targets in a game where the Chargers are expected to be trailing with the highest Vegas total of the week.

Tight Ends

Julius Thomas (JAC) vs OAK $3,900

The pick of Thomas is a little bit of a gut call this week. He has not been too involved in the offense averaging just over five targets per game and has only scored one touchdown so far this season. However, this week he is in a good spot facing a Raiders defense that has allowed an average of five catches for 70 yards and 0.5 TD per game to opposing tight ends this season. Thomas has the ability for a big game and I have a feeling this week he has one.

Hunter Henry (SD) @ ATL $3,600

Henry is another inexpensive pass-catcher for the Chargers who is healthy and has really emerged over the last four weeks averaging 16 DraftKings points per game including the last two week with Antonio Gates also on the field. One of the best ways to attack the Falcons defense is with the tight end as they have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. The Chargers should be passing a lot this week and Henry should pay off his cheap salary just as he has the last four weeks.

Defense

Titans (TEN) vs IND $2,400

The Titans defense has been solid this season including recording six sacks in each of their last two games. They will have a good opportunity to reach that sack count again this week against a Colts team that has allowed the most sacks this season (23). Solid floor for a defense priced at just $2,400.

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
