NFL FanDuel and DraftKings DFS GPP Lineup Advice: Week 16

With just two weeks left in the regular season, playoff implications are looming. There is a lot to look at, leading into the matchups. Determining whether or not teams are going to start sitting their studs and then dealing with the numerous injuries.
Vegas has become a little more conservative with the game totals this week, as there is just one game projected to see over 50 points. While last week will hopefully not repeat itself, it could be another low scoring fantasy football week. Either way, let’s dive into each position to try and find some of the best DFS GPP options for week 16.

Quarterbacks

FanDuel

Nick Foles (PHI) vs. HOU $6,000

On FanDuel, Nick Foles is the cheapest possible price at the position. This is intriguing, considering Foles is a Super Bowl MVP and has more than enough talent to put up points in this game. The Texans are highly regarded as one of the better defensive teams in the NFL. However, looking at their schedule this season, they have not been tested all that much. Outside of facing Andrew Luck twice, Houston has defended against Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Marcus Mariota, Colt McCoy, Case Keenum, Brock Osweiler, Blake Bortles, Nate Peterman, Dak Prescott, Eli Manning, and Tom Brady in week one. Through 15 weeks, the Texans have avoided any elite quarterbacks. Not that Foles is elite, by any stretch, but he is good enough to put up yards and points in a potential shootout game.

DraftKings

Baker Mayfield (CLE) vs. CIN $6,100

Narrative alert For those who remember the last time these two teams met, Baker Mayfield went off for 258-4-0. Mayfield does not like former coach Hugh Jackson, who was fired from Cleveland and took a role on with the divisional rival Bengals. The Bengals are absolutely dismantled at this point and have nothing to play for. For the Browns, a lot of pride for a team who has shown flashes of explosive, big-play ability.

Others to consider: Andrew Luck, Deshaun Watson, Drew Brees

Running Backs

FanDuel

Ezekiel Elliot (DAL) vs. TB $8,800

Although his ownership percentage will be high, my player pool at the running back position is quite thin and Elliot is at the top. You would like to think that the Cowboys are going to come out blazing this week at home, after being embarrassed in a shutout against the Colts. Regardless of game script, Elliot is an elite option who has been catching a lot more passes out of the backfield. The Buccaneers are getting healthy and the defense is much improved from earlier in the season, however, this will be a blowout and Elliot should be in-line for a massive workload.

DraftKings

Tevin Coleman (ATL) @ CAR $4,800

Coming off a great game last week against the Cardinals, Tevin Coleman will assume more touches after the news that Ito Smith was placed on the IR. Carolina looks like they are in tank mode at the moment and the fact that Cam is injured leads me to believe the offense will not spend a lot of time on the field. Julio Jones is clearly banged up and the Falcons should get out to an early lead. Coleman will have a positive game flow and a ton of looks with no competition in the backfield.

Others to consider: Saquon Barkley, CMC, Nick Chubb, Marlon Mack, Elijah McGuire, Joe Mixon

Wide Receivers

FanDuel

Alshon Jeffery (PHI) vs. HOU $6,300

If anything was clear in the Eagles game last week, it was the fact that Nick Foles loves Alshon Jeffery. Hauling in all eight targets for 160 yards. We all know Jeffery is a top-tier receiver who is a matchup nightmare for any cornerback. If he sees close to 10 targets again, Jeffery will be a great GPP option in a game-stack scenario.

DraftKings

Michael Thomas (NO) vs. $8,100

Back at home, the Saints should not have any issue putting up points against the Steelers in a game with a 53 point total. Michael Thomas has recorded less than 50 receiving yards in three of his last four games, where he posted 7.8, 9.0, and 11.9 DraftKings points in those games. Hopefully, the general public will look at his recent struggles and avoid him completely, given the high cost. The Steelers are a very average defense who will struggle to slow down this high-octane offense and more specifically, Drew Brees and Michael Thomas.

Others to consider: DeAndre Hopkins, Adam Thielen, Brandin Cooks, Robert Foster, Cody Core

Tight Ends

FanDuel

Austin Hooper (ATL) @ CAR $5,300

Fresh off the injury report, Austin Hooper will be forgotten about by most. Again, with Julio banged up, targets will go elsewhere. Especially the red zone looks, where Hooper thrives.

DraftKings

Blake Jarwin (DAL) vs. TB $3,000

A basement bargain, look to Blake Jarwin for salary relief. As mentioned with Ezekiel Elliot, the Cowboys should roll this Buccaneers team. Even though I love Zeke this week, the Bucs should be stacking the box, doing everything possible to slow him down. Cooper will see either double coverage or saftie help over-top. Leaving Jarwin, plenty of breathing room to capitalize on the targets he is seeing.
