NFL Week 7 DFS Spade or Fade?(FanDuel / DraftKings)

Welcome to Week 7! This is Spade or Fade for Daily Fantasy. We examine two players that we are endorsing as good plays to include in your lineup. We also give you two players that should be bypassed in favour of a player that has a better matchup for the week.

The Cleveland Browns and tight end David Njoku have a tasty matchup against the worst passing defense in the league for their Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs just allowed tight end Austin Hooper to go for 71 yards and a score on 9 catches last week. The Browns don’t have as good of an offense as the Falcons but QB Baker Mayfield has started to look Njoku’s way more and more over the last two weeks targeting him a team leading 22 times. The tight end position is always a challenge to fill but at $4,200 for Njoku it seems like you can’t go wrong given the great matchup and the fact that Njoku is now such an important part of the Browns offense.

FADE
DREW BREES QB NO

Arguably the best quarterback this season, Drew Brees will be up against an extremely tough opponent on the road in the Baltimore Ravens. Brees and the Saints have virtually been unstoppable up until now. This game, however, will be a completely different test. The number one ranked(total defense) Ravens have only given an incredible 270 total yards per game. That’s 82.8 in rushing yards and 188 passing yards per game. Brees has been absolutely dominant in four of the five games this season but the opponents are teams of the weaker variety, Bucs, Browns, Falcons, Giants and Redskins. For this Week 7 road battle against this defense, it’s hard to imagine Brees and the Saints won’t struggle. Plenty of other quarterbacks with better matchups, stay off of Brees for Week 7.

SPADE
Tyler Boyd WR CIN

The Cincinnati Bengals and the K.C. Chiefs square off on Sunday night in what should be a high scoring game. The Bengals receiver duo of Tyler Boyd and A.J. Green stand to benefit against this number 31 ranked passing defense. Both will likely bring profitable returns if you invest in them this week. On 52 targets this season, Boyd has gone for 37 catches, 455 yards and four touchdowns. Green has seen 55 targets and turned them into 33 receptions, 494 yards and five TD’s. These are very similar stat lines, but the big difference in DFS/DraftKings, you can pay $8,100 for Green or you can go for a savings $1,300 and pay $6,700 for Boyd. These bountiful targets will no doubt continue for both, because of the friendlier price, might as well go for Boyd.

FADE
Alvin Kamara RB NO

Kamara is listed as the third highest priced running back for Week 7 at $8,500. The return of fellow-back Mark Ingram isn’t really a threat to Kamara’s value as the Saints have an explosive offense and will continue to score in bunches, but this particular matchup isn’t good for any Saints position player. As stated earlier the Ravens are only giving up 82.8 rushing yards per game and the pass defense is just as good. The Ravens will be aided by the fact that they are at home which makes them even tougher for Kamara and the Saints. For $100 less you can play Melvin Gordon who has a home game against the Titans. At this hefty price tag it’s just too much of a risk to play Kamara.
