As football season begins, let’s take a moment to reflect on things that are much bigger than sports today. This date that scarred America forever. A date that placed so many individuals into a club they never voluntarily joined. A date that people will forever be reminded, no matter how much we move forward, to reflect on and unite with each other, no matter the political affiliation, whether we wear a mask or not, or whether you’re vaccinated or not, or sports teams you enjoy. This is a date of remembrance for all of us impacted together…and without each other, together will never exist. The United States will never exist. Always love yourself and always love your neighbor.
As far as prop bets are concerned, I’ve elected to do what may appear as common sense, but I am a big proponent on easy money. James Robinson went berserk as a rookie with a 1,070/7 line and even caught 49 passes last season. If you’ve been living under a rock, Travis Etienne is out for the year and Carlos Hyde isn’t going to be a major factor.
This opens up even more reps for Robinson to take advantage of a completely depleted Houston defense. To increase the odds of hitting this beyond just game script, Robinson only had four games all season under 16 carries. Now that he has rookie Trevor Lawrence under center, I anticipate more of a balance game flow early on and a ground and pound in the second half. The small probability that this does not hit is the Jaguars get ahead by 30+ early on and Robinson gets rested and protected from any injuries.
With Houston having literally zero stars or major playmakers (no offense Brandin Cooks) on either side of the ball, this one could get ugly quickly. I’d maybe consider Robinson to break this prop by the end of the first half!
Play this one confidently with the majority of the fans. Even though this is my “gimme” one for the week, you should feel confident picking on Houston the entire season. So more than likely, whatever the bet is against Houston, you can more than likely take.
