Eagles head coach Doug Peterson named rookie Jalen Hurts the starting QB for this weekend against the Saints. Wentz has been struggling big time this season and the Eagles are the owners of a four-game losing streak since the bye in Week 9. Hurts stepped in for Wentz in the third quarter last weekend vs the Packers and breathed some life into the beleaguered Eagles offense. He has earned his shot and now he gets to prove himself. Let’s walk through how that impacts the fantasy fortunes of some others.
Jalen Hurts – QB
Hurts has been given the opportunity to show the team he belongs as the franchise starter. He finished the Packers game 5 of 12 for 109 yards passing with one INT but more importantly, the offense looked rejuvenated. He remains on the waiver wire in standard leagues and a wait and see bench stash in super flex formats. Fantasy playoffs begin soon and if you are in, you probably have a better option moving forward.
Miles Sanders – RB
The switch to Hurts would appear to be beneficial to the entire team. Sanders has been a fantasy disappointment this season. He has only rushed for 197 yards since he came back from injury in Week 10. The offensive line will continue to have issues but with a new QB with fresh legs and a threat to run, it will slow down opposing defensives just enough to hopefully open some running lanes for Sanders.
Dallas Goedert – TE
Since coming back from injury in Week 10 Goedert has 29 targets for 20 receptions, 251 yards and a couple TDs. With Hurts under center, Goedert at worst will stay on a similar course with the upside for more since the offence will presumably be getting more first downs and being on the field more.
Eagles Wide Receivers – Travis Fulgham, Jalen Reagor, Alshon Jefferey, Greg Ward
Week 14 is the first week of most fantasy league playoffs. No Eagles WRs need to be anywhere near your starting line up. If your team made it this far, it made it without Eagles in your line up except for early season Fulgham.
