Saying Goodbye to B. Meeks

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post, for this week we lost a great person and a great friend, B. Meeks, co-founder of OneTakePodcast and my friend, passed away. I’ve never met Bryant Meeks in person, but we talked through Twitter over these last 7 or 8 months, both of us working to grow our brand. First I was a guest on his podcast, “Agree to Disagree”, then we became partners, along the way we became friends, and then without warning, he was gone.

That was our last conversation. He was just checking in because he hadn’t heard from me in awhile. Had I known then it would be our last conversation I would have said so much more. I would have given him a hard time about his Packers who at that time had just lost their second straight game, maybe I would have suggested we do another podcast together, or maybe we would have talked about our family and things on a more personal level. Maybe we would have talked about how crazy it was that we had become friends through social media, and through our love of sports, and that 10 years ago a friendship like this would not have been possible.

Whatever we had talked about, had I known I would lose him one short week later, it would have been more than me complaining about how hectic my life was at that moment. It’s upsetting that it takes a tragedy like this to make you realize just how fragile life really is, and how you must cherish every moment. My heart goes out to his family and I wish there was more that I could do for them to help through this difficult time.

B. Meeks, wherever you are, I hope you know how many lives you touched and made an impact on. Heaven is lucky to have you, and I hope they give you a nice Podcasting studio so you can continue doing what you love. I look forward to hearing your podcast when I get up there one day and I can’t wait to hear you say, “What’s going on World?”
