NBA FANDUEL 1/29/15 “Dunks and Passes”

**update** Got my technical difficulties solved, I hope. Half of this blog didn’t save/post and was lost. I’m going to try to remember everything and re-write it.

Dunks and Passes for your Fanduel Lineup for 1/29/15 Before I get in to the intro, I want to give a shout out to my friend PK. He designed my new banner, and is working on my logo. He is also going to help me with some overall design to make the site better. When he gets his site up and running, I’ll send out a link. The dude is amazing at some graphic design.

Another good night for my lineup last night. If I can keep up a good streak, I’ll start posting my lineup again. I did make the mistake of taking Cousins in one of my lineups, but who would blame me?

My Dunks and Passes from last night had a few hits and a few misses. I missed on both my “Dunk of the Night” and my “Pass of the Night”. Can’t get them all right. Last night was a tough night to call, as every top-tier player had good matchups. I really had to reach to find some guys to call out.

Four games on tonight’s slate, and before I even started to break them down, I realized there won’t be a ton of top-tier guys tonight. So finding those second and third tier guys will make or break you tonight.

I think I’ve shared my strategy a few times on nights with small slates. Pick the 2 best guys for that night, and build your roster down from there. Sometimes you might be able to afford the best 3 guys.

I didn’t want to go into a big explanation of what Dunks and Passes are, but some people still don’t understand. I’m not telling you to build your lineup with solely these guys. The Dunks are just guys that aren’t top-tier guys that you may have overlooked.

I keep getting messages from people upset cause they took 4 or 5 guys from the Dunk list, or they dropped a guy from the Pass list and added a guy from the Dunk list. Obviously I’m not gonna bat a thousand, because believe me, I’d be rich if I could.

Think of Dunks as value plays, and Passes are used if you’re trying to decide between 2 similar guys. I’m not telling you to take Westbrook off your roster and put in Augustine. That would be crazy.

Now if you’re trying to decide between, say, Westbrook and Curry, and I have Curry on my Pass list, that could help you make your decision. I hope this helps explain it better. I’m sure I’ll still get some upset people, it’s the nature of the beast. Now let’s get to it.

  DUNKS

  POINT GUARD

Langston Galloway– With not much in the way of value plays, Langston Galloway is the easy choice. He will probably be heavily owned, but he is the only sub 6k point guard I’d be comfortable rostering.

Jarryd Bayless– If you really wanna go deep at point guard, Bayless has been good in his last 2, getting close to 30 FDP both nights. He is want we call a “punt”. But worth a look on a night with 4 games.

  SHOOTING GUARD

OJ Mayo – I put him on my Dunk list the other night, and he started really slow and made me nervous. He ended strong, and had 24 FDP, which isn’t great by any means, but isn’t horrible either for a guy sub 5K.

Rodney Stuckey– He got a whopping 39 minutes versus the Raptors the other night, and he should flirt with 30+ again. Minutes don’t always mean points, but again, for a sub 5K price tag on a 4 game slate, he is a pretty good value.

  SMALL FORWARD

Jeff Green– I’m going to throw him out there again. He has let me down when I’ve put him in my lineup or when featuring him as a Dunk, but there just isn’t much value at small forward. He is as good as any, and I’m gonna stick with him, so when he finally has the game I keep expecting, I can claim to be a genius.

POWER FORWARD

Taj Gibson- **DUNK OF THE NIGHT** –I jumped off the bandwagon when Noah came back from injury. My thought was that there couldn’t be 3 productive big men on one team. I was wrong. I expect either Noah and/or Gasol to get rest, since they won’t be needed versus the Lakers, and Taj should rack up some points.

Jason Smith Getting 30+ minutes a game, and has been good 4 out of his last 5 games. He is playing a good defensive team in the Pacers, but he should still be able to get you 23-27 FDP. At $4,200 I’ll take that.

Center

Jordan Hill Not much in the way of value at center tonight. Jordan Hill is the best option for value. He should play big minutes to matchup with the Bulls front line. Priced at $5,500, he is looking at 25-30 FDP.

PASSES

TY. Lawson- **PASS OF THE NIGHT** –Lawson is a little too pricey for me at 9K. He only has 2 games over 40 in his last 10 games, which includes a few 20 something games. Couple that with a bad matchup, and I’ll Pass.

SHOOTING GUARD

No top-tier guys to Pass on. If Butler plays, I have no trouble rostering him.

 SMALL FORWARD

Again, no top tier guys to Pass on. If Melo plays, he should be rostered.

POWER FORWARD

Pau Gasol- I’m going to get killed for this one. Everyone is taking Pau as a good play cause he is playing his old team. What better way to show up your old team then by going up big, and resting the entire second half? Show them their not even worth the trouble. I could be totally wrong, but the Bulls are worried about Pau making it through the season with no injuries, why risk it just for a meaningless revenge game? I’m avoiding him, but I may be eating some crow tomorrow.

Center

Joakim Noah- Ok. He is not technically a top-tier guy, but I like the 2 top guys tonight, so he is next best thing. Like Pau, Noah needs to stay healthy for the Bulls to make a good run at a title. They won’t need him in LA, he’ll get some rest.

This blog was a lot longer and a little more in-depth the first time through. I apologize for the technical issues. I hope they have been resolved going forward.

Let me know what you think of my picks tonight, I’m sure I’ll get a lot of flack with my Gasol pick, but if everyone went with the crowds this game wouldn’t be that interesting.

The site will be going through a few changes over the next week or so, so if you see some “Test” blogs, I apologize.
