The Advice You Need for NFL DFS Week 6 (10/15/23)

Welcome back to my weekly NFL DFS article! Overall I feel pretty great about my picks last week. My call of the week was Dallas Goedert, as he found his way into many first-place lineups on Sunday at pretty low ownership. Other than that, my picks last week didn’t pan out too well. I liked Lamar and Zay Flowers, and they were just a couple of Flowers’ drops away from crushing together last week. But sometimes, that’s how it goes. Onwards and upwards to week 6, let’s go!

Justin Fields ($7,300) vs. MIN

I’m going back to the well here in a great spot versus Minnesota. With Jefferson out, the total for this game is staying down a little bit at 44 (Fourth best on the slate). That and his price tag should keep his ownership lower this week. We haven’t seen it yet, but we know Fields possesses slate-breaking upside with his legs, and he’s showing he has the ceiling to be in the optimal lineup with his arm. You cannot go wrong with a single or double stack with Fields this week.

Jared Goff ($6,400) @ TB

Amon-Ra St. Brown fully practiced this Thursday, which instantly puts Goff back in my player pool for QB. If Laporta is inactive, there are some clear value plays in this receiver core to pair with Goff and St. Brown. Most players this week will chase Burrow at $6,300 after his bounce-back performance last week. While they stack Burrow and Chase, I will be stacking Goff and Amon-Ra. This stack should give you leverage on the rest of the field while maintaining slate-winning upside.

Running Backs

Kyren Williams ($6,500) vs. ARI

Kyren Williams has yet to cede virtually any work to his running back counterparts. He truly is Sean McVay’s guy for as long as he can stay healthy. In a game versus the Cardinals, we can anticipate a great gamescript for Williams. I picked Mixon at $6,400 versus the Cardinals last week, and he just missed out on a touchdown. I am sticking to my thesis at a similar price with Williams this week.

Breece Hall ($6,000) vs. PHI

Well, Breece Hall showed us exactly what we’ve all been waiting for last week. His ability to make huge plays is among the best in the NFL. My hope this week is that players will see the red “3rd” next to Philadelphia’s defense and get scared off of Breece Hall. Despite the tough matchup, Hall is the type of back to overcome difficult matchups with his big play ability and I will be playing him a lot this week.

Devonta Smith ($7,000) @ NYJ

Ever since AJ Brown complained about not getting enough targets, he has dominated the target share in this offense. However this week, he has a tough matchup against Sauce Gardner. If Gardner can have success and shut down Brown, the door could be open for Smith to have a big game. The field should be looking elsewhere this week, which makes Smith a great GPP play at $7k.

Adam Thielen ($5,900) @ MIA

If you had told me before the season that I would be playing Adam Thielen at $5,900 in DFS, I would’ve said you are insane. But, Thielen just continues to establish himself as the only receiver in this Panther’s WR group who can draw targets consistently. Playing Miami this week, it is almost a guarantee Carolina will be playing from behind. That means more targets and more catches for Thielen. The field should stay away at this price tag, but I am willing to take the shot on Thielen, especially as a bring-back for Tua stacks.

T.J Hockenson ($6,600) @ CHI

On the other side of my Fields pick, we have the new #1 pass catcher in the Minnesota offense. The field will look towards Addison with Justin Jefferson on IR, but I am happy playing Hockenson even at $6,600 this week. We just saw Logan Thomas have a resurgence versus this defense. Given that and the absence of Jefferson, I am all in on Hockenson this week.

Irv Smith Jr. ($3,000) vs. ARI

Irv Smith is my punt TE play this week. The field will undoubtedly be playing Chase after his monster game and with Higgins’ status still up in the air. At $3,000, all Smith needs is to land in the endzone and he will pay off his price tag. He’ll have a good opportunity to do that this week versus Seattle.

Defenses

Patriots ($2,600) @ LV

Well, nothing has gone right for the Patriots this year. But, at $2,600 versus Jimmy Garoppolo, I’m happy to take a shot on this cheap defense this week.

Texans ($2,900) vs. NO

Houston’s defense has put up double digits in 2 of the last 3 weeks. Facing Derek Carr this week, I am anticipating another good performance from DeMeco Ryans’ Texans.
