The Best Week 8 Pickups for your Fantasy Team

With bye weeks in full swing and injuries abound, it’s more important than ever to take a deep dive in the waiver wire for productive players. Here are some players from the entire Goingfor2 team that can help in leagues of all sizes.

WR Brandon Aiyuk (SF) 49% Owned

Brandon Aiyuk has had a solid start to his rookie season. He almost looks identical to Deebo Samuel in terms of how they use him. This is an easy plug and plays for OBJ owners or fillers for Wide Receivers on the bye week. The 49ers get Seattle this week Seattle is dead last in the NFL in defending Wide Receivers. —@yetiexpress2

WR Sterling Shepard (NYG) 28% Owned

After missing the last four games thanks to turf toe, Sterling Shepard returned in Week 7 and led the Giants wide receivers in targets with 8. He produced with six catches or 59 yards and a touchdown for a total of 17.9 fantasy points. The Giants are a dumpster fire and figure to be behind in almost every game this season. Garbage time points count just the same in fantasy, and if Shepard continues to have a healthy target share he can produce WR3 or flex numbers. —@GMenJay

QB Teddy Bridgewater (CAR) 43% Owned

You aren’t picking up Bridgewater because he isn’t going to get you 5 passing touchdowns. What he does give you is the fourth-ranked completion percentage of 70.9%. He also gives you wide receivers whose average yards after the catch is 6.1 yards. In Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints, he was 23-of-28, for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns. Week 8 he plays the very generous Atlanta Falcons. —@neverenoughglt

WR Denzel Mims (NYJ) 4% Owned

Denzel Mims came off of the IR and immediately into the number one role on the poor Jets offense this week. He received 7 targets which were a team-high and converted that into 4 receptions and 42 yards. This was by no means a sexy performance but the volume was there. Take the volume and run with this one as he should be a lock to see 5+ targets every game he is healthy. —@reynoldst5858

WR Rashard Higgins (CLE) 2% Owned

With the Cleveland Browns losing Odell Beckham Jr. in the first quarter, Rashard Higgins stepped up and hauled in six catches for 110 yards. He received a 21% target share and ran a route on every dropback by Baker Mayfield. OBJ is now done for the season with a torn ACL. He won’t be an immediate starter in most formats, but it is a situation worth monitoring and if you have the room on your roster, I recommend stashing him before it is too late. —@shawn_sulli5

RB La’Michal Perine (NYJ) 16% Owned

It seems like Adam Gase finally did something right. The winless Jets are already looking to 2021 and gave the rookie La’Michal Perine more touches than the immortal Frank Gore. Gase said the Jets were planning on getting Perine more carries, and it seems he stayed true to his word. Perine scored his first career NFL touchdown and totaled 13.5 fantasy points in Week 7. His role should continue to grow as the season progresses, and any running back who’s healthy and getting touches is worthy of a roster spot. Perine should be picked up in all leagues. —@GMenJay

RB Carlos Hyde (SEA) 12% Owned

I’m going with the captain’s obvious selection this week. Reports are stating Carson will miss a few games, so go get Hyde. even with Deejay Dallas in town and the other option–Travis Homer–dinged up, there is more than enough reasons to snag Hyde, who ran over 1,000 yards last season and has proven capable to pass catches as well —@ricco_3733

WR Jalen Reagor (PHI) 14% Owned

Jalen Reagor, the Philadelphia Eagles first-round selection, has been removed from IR. Although Travis Fulgham has been outstanding in the last four weeks, Reagor will be immediately thrust back into the banged-up offense. With DeSean Jackson suffering another injury, Alshon Jeffery failing to move past individual drills, and both Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz on IR, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be on more than 60% rosters after this week. In his first two games as a rookie, without a mini-camp or preseason, he received eight targets in which he converted into five catches for 96 yards. —@shawn_sulli5

WR Nelson Agholor (LVR) 4% Owned

Eagles fans won’t want to believe it, but Agholor is playing very productive football this year. He has four majors in six games and has earned the trust of quarterback Derek Carr. Week 7 saw him get nine looks from Carr, converting those into five grabs, 107 yards, and a score. Agholor has always been able to put up numbers, just rarely consistently. It looks like he could find more consistent success in Black and Silver. —@joshmkerr

WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (CLE) 0% Owned

Peoples-Jones is a target in larger leagues as a pick-up who has the pedigree of a former five star recruit out of high school and a 97th percentile SPARQ score. He was the third WR in three WR sets after the unfortunate injury to Odell Beckham Jr. He also served as the third WR when Rashard Higgins missed Week 4. He hauled in all three of his targets for 57 yards and the game-winning TD. Expect him to be worked in slowly, but he is an athletic specimen who could see his targets increase as Baker Mayfield builds rapport and confidence with him. —@ffb_bbq
