The top stacks to consider in DFS

Welcome to the weekly stack article for NFL on DraftKings. The concept behind stacking is simple; the players benefit from each other, compounding the amount of points derived from that play for your fantasy lineup. Most GPP winning lineups will incorporate a stacking methodology in their lineup. Most people think of a traditional QB-WR stack (which is certainly viable) but I will provide a few other ways to effectively stack and increase the ceiling of your team.

Please note, a ton can (and will) change between article posting and kickoff, follow me on Twitter for all my thoughts on additional value coming and going before lineups lock.

The Classic Stack: QB to pass catcher

Jared Goff ($5,700) to Tyler Higbee ($5,000) Los Angeles Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys

The highest projected game on Sunday with the home team predicted to be underdogs. This game should have fireworks and provides some safety as even if the Rams get down early, they will continue to throw. Goff is a value at his price tag going against a revamped defense and you can logically pair him with any of his pass catches but I went with Higbee at TE as DraftKings cleverly place Kupp and Woods at the same price tag, begging us to choose one or the other.

The Double Stacker: QB to RB and WR

Mitch Trubisky  ($5,400) to Tarik Cohen ($4,900) and Allen Robinson ($6,500) Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions

Cohen is contingent on Montgomery missing or getting news he will be extremely limited. The Lions should have one of the worst defenses in the league while also playing at a fast pace on offense. If Turd Biscuits can play competent, he has the potential to put some points on the board. Grabbing both Cohen and Robinson gives you the vast majority of yardage/scoring % for the team. Not for the faint of heart.

The Game Stack: QB to Pass Catcher, bring it back with opposing pass catcher

Russell Wilson ($7,000) to D.K. Metcalf ($5,800) bring it back with Calvin Ridley ($6,100) Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons

You can obviously play this multiple ways depending on how much salary you are willing to spend. These teams are playing indoors in one of the highest projected games of the week. I will probably have a piece of this game in every lineup I make and will dedicate many lineups to some form of this “game stack.”

The Correlation Stack: Starting RB and Defense/Special Teams

Austin Ekeler ($7,000) and Chargers D/ST ($2,800) Los Angeles Chargers at Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are starting their rookie QB against one of the most formidable defenses in the NFL. I expect the Chargers to control this game from start to finish and the best way for a team like LA to succeed is to force feed the rock to Ekeler and then rely on the defense to shut down Cinci. Starting RB’s and the defense correlate nicely as the more the Chargers get up, the more they will lean on the running game and will force Cinci to get more aggressive which opens the defense up to capitalize on mistakes.
