Tom Brady Confident in Decision to Return to NFL

Tom Brady’s retirement just lasted 40 days. The seven-time Super Bowl winner announced he is coming back to the NFL and to his former Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The veteran quarterback joins a list of other stars in different niches, such as Magic Johnson and Muhammad Ali. Brady called off his retirement and explained why he is confident about returning to the NFL.

Why Is Tom Brady Coming Back?

Tom Brady is returning for his 23rd season in the NFL. Speaking to ESPN, Tom Brady stated, “I knew my body physically, could still do what it could do, and obviously I have a love for the game. I think I’ll always have a love for the game. I do think physically, I’ll be able to do it. I just felt like there was still a place for me on the field.”

Tom Brady’s bold statement follows his introspection moment with his family over his 40-day retirement period. He recognizes his twilight career years but still wants one more shot at the Super Bowl. The Brady-led Bucs crashed out of the competition after losing to the Los Angeles Rams.

For Brady, last season was a “bitter ending,” despite then winning the NFC South and him being the runner-up in the MVP contest.

Brady has amends to make, and we all know when the veteran quarterback has a point to prove, he will drill it home.

Will Brady Add Another Ring?

Returning to the high-intensity NFL is one thing; winning it is a different ball game. Tom Brady will have to summon all his mental acumen, physical strength, and technical abilities to pull one of the greatest second acts in history.

Currently, the unofficial title is held by John Riggings. Riggins unretired in 1980 and carried Washington to their first Super Bowl title, beating the Dolphins 27-17 in the XVII Super Bowl. The game has massively changed since the 80s, but the competition remains cutthroat.

Tom Brady returns to a team without his former coach, Bruce Arians, who retired in the off-season. Unlike Brady, Arians is not returning. Todd Bowles, who was the Bucs’ defensive coordinator, took over the reins but is a long-time buddy of Brady, so Brady will have multiple chances to grace us with his prowess on the field.

Anyway, no one would dare put the GOAT on the sidelines. Not even Bruce Arians, if he was still instructing the team.

In the ESPN interview, Brady implied that he had come to win the trophy, at least for the last time. He didn’t say the exact date he aimed to make it permanent. But in 2023, Tom Brady will be an unrestricted free agent, and few teams can accommodate his wage bill.

“But I wanted to give myself and my teammates and our organization another incredible opportunity to accomplish something that we’d all be very proud of.”

Final Thoughts

Tom Brady is arguably the greatest player of all time in NFL history. We are witnessing his twilight career moments, and he may just have enough to start an inexplicable run that will culminate with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the next Super Bowl winners, which will be a fairy tale return for him.

We will keep you updated on Tom Brady, the NFL, and if Tom Brady decides to retire again. Who knows? At the time of writing, he may even have retired and unretired a couple of times.
