Ultimate Fantasy Rookie Peformances To Follow: Week 3

I have two pretty big mea culpas this week.  In my last article, I forgot that Cleveland’s new kicker Cade York is also a rookie.  He would have slid into the two spot last week.  I probably just blocked out his solid performance after watching him take down my Panthers on a 58-yard field goal. The second is the Jets rookies might actually be pretty good… In conclusion, this week’s article is going to start with an apology.  Sorry for forgetting (York) and/or not believing in you (anyone one the Jets).

Here are the top five rookie performances of the week as ranked by points their in a PPR league.

5. Chris Olave (11)

Chris Olave had 5 receptions for 80 yards (and unfortunately a fumble) on a game-high 13 targets. It’s exciting to see that the opportunities are there and as long as Jameis Winston is slinging the ball there are chances for points in this offense.  There will be better weeks when they’re not facing defenses as good as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

4. Breece Hall (13)

Breece Hall ran the ball 7 times for 50 yards and caught a pass for 10 yards and a touchdown. Hall evenly split carries with Michael Carter, rushing more effectively, but gave up a little passing equity. If Hall continues to improve, he will take the majority of the snaps for the Jets sooner rather than later.

3. Jahan Dotson (17.9)

Jahan Dotson has played at a remarkably high level for the first two weeks of the season. Two weeks in a row with more than 17 points makes him consistent as well. This week, he did it on 4 catches for 59 yards and a touchdown (and a two point conversion). Currently, Dotson is the 15th best wide receiver in the league. I am jealous of anyone who took a flier on him late in fantasy drafts.

2. Drake London (24.6)

Drake London caught 8 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown (and a two point conversion.  Apparently rookies are very good at two point conversions this season). London had a game high 13 targets. He actually had more targets than Cooper Kupp! With Arthur Smith’s odd disdain for the unicorn Kyle Pitts, London should continue to dominate games with ample opportunities.

1. Garrett Wilson (30)

8 catches. 102 yards. 2 touchdowns. These are impressive numbers for any wide receiver, but he quietly flew under the radar on a week 2 that saw some incredible performances. Garrett Wilson is blooming into quite the fantasy stalwart. Currently wide receiver 12 after his big week, he should continue to help fantasy owners win games. Hopefully, he continues getting the same opportunities whenever Zach Wilson returns.
