Ultimate Rookie Report Week 13

Happy slightly less than 75% of the season!

Well friends, now that we’re 70.588% done with the season (would have been 75 but they decided to add a game), I thought it was time to really appreciate how good the rookies are this year. I mean, sure, last year’s class was great, but just about all of them broke along the way. This year, the players have been great and have stayed on the field which helps them accumulate fantasy points for their managers.

At wide receiver, Puka Nacua is 10th, Tank Dell is 14th, and Jordan Addison is 15th OVERALL at the position. Zay Flowers, Jordan Reed and Rashee Rice have been getting better as the season goes on and are all a part of the top 35 wide receivers in the league.

Bijan Robinson is the 9th best running back and Jahmyr Gibbs sits at 10.

Sam LaPorta is the third best TE, a position at which rookies usually take time to develop. Kincaid is 9th after a few huge performances as the Bills utilize him more.

The sexy position of kicker even has Brandon Aubrey (2) and Blake Grupe (8)!

Finally, the crowning jewel of the class and most likely rookie of the year, CJ Stroud is the 5th best quarterback IN THE LEAGUE. He’s beating Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes in fantasy points this year AS A ROOKIE.

I know that this was clunky and long winded, but I didn’t know how else to truly convey how amazing this class is performing this year.

Also fun fact: There have been 10 rookie quarterbacks to start a game this season. TEN. Wild stuff in the NFL this year.

Side note: Last week, Tommy DeVito would have been second on the list. I just didn’t pay attention to him. Can you blame me? Sorry, Tommy. I assume you are an avid fan of my column and I apologize for slighting you.

Anyway, I have a job to do. These people did well last week and you can see them lined up by how they produced fantasy points.

5. Sam LaPorta (17.7)

It feels fitting that a player that played on Thanksgiving starts off this list. LaPorta had 5 catches for 47 yards and a touchdown in what should be a bizarre loss, but really is just the Lions being the Lions on Thanksgiving.

4. Zay Flowers (23.2)

Another player showing off on national TV! Zay had 5 catches for 25 yards and a touchdown. He also had a single carry for 37 yards and another touchdown. His yardage totals concern me, but they have been using him more and more, which is great because I drafted him in literally every fantasy league.

3. Rashee Rice (24.7)

Did Mahomes finally find his number one receiver? Eight catches for 107 yards and a touchdown was all Rashee did week 12. Rice out targeted superstar Travis Kelce 10 to 7 this week.

2. Bijan Robinson (27.3)

Bijan Robinson put in a lot of work this week. 16 carries and 3 receptions for a total of 123 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. It’s nice to see some actual usage for the best player on the team.

1. CJ Stroud (30.86)

304 yards passing and two touchdowns. 47 yards rushing and another touchdown. Apparently it would have been even better if the officiating wasn’t garbage (and our old pal Tank Dell would have made the list, too). This will be an exciting rivalry between Stroud and Trevor Lawrence going forward, and we have the privilege of watching it at least twice a year.

I’m going to leave you with a tweet or an X or whatever they’re called now. So accurate it hurts. I laughed for 10 minutes straight watching it.

Sincerely,

@MeLlamoMoron
