VainGlory- How to Catherine?

Hello and Welcome, to a VainGlory- How to Catherine? This is a hero guide/ spotlight. We’ll go over a hero’s abilities and which role they are best suited to play in. We will also cover the basic build for each hero we’ll be going over. Today, is the Captain of Stormguard, Catherine.

Abilities-

PASSIVE [Heroic Perk]- Captain of the Guard

Catherine gains 1 armor & shield every time she stuns or silences an enemy hero with her abilities.

• This ability is a very strong Passive. This is the Passive that makes Catherine the tanky, unkillable character she is.
• Being a tanky, bruiser, character Catherine is most suited in the Roam/ Support role.
• Catherine is mostly a Late-Game hero because of her Passive. If the enemy lets Catherine get to the late game with more then 35 stacks on her Passive, she’ll be one of the most unkillable characters in the game. If she has good items, she’s going to be invincible.

Ability 1- Merciless Pursuit

Catherine gains a burst of move speed. Her next basic attack is replaced by a powerful stun attack. Resets basic attack cooldown on activation.

DETAILS:
Bonus Damage: 10/50/90/130/170 (+1.0 Crystal)
Stun Duration: 0.7/0.8/0.9/1/1.2

• This ability is Catherine’s escape ability and initiation ability. The Speed Boost and Stun it provides gives Catherine a ton of Utility.
• This is Catherine’s Gank Ability. The moment Catherine Stuns the enemy Laner, in Pro Standards, that’s, a sure kill. (If your Laner does what he/ she was supposed to).

Ability 2- Stormguard

Activates a pulsating bubble that burns nearby enemies and deflects damage above 77 (+7 per level) to nearby enemies. Each deflection reduces the shield duration by 1 second.

Overdrive: Damage reflected by this ability is increased by 25%.

DETAILS:
Duration: 6/6/6/6/6
Damage/sec: 35/45/55/65/90 (+0.5 Crystal)

• This Ability is why Catherine is a bruiser in VainGlory. This is why Catherine can deal large amounts of damage to the enemy, while still protecting her own allies.
• This is Catherine’s revenge ability. Here’s an example; Catherine is being pursued by an enemy Ringo. They are both very low. If Ringo kills Catherine, his team is going to get an ACE. Vice Versa for Catherine. Catherine activates her Stormguard Ability. Ringo fires his basic attack. Catherine dies, but her shield, kills Ringo. Even if Catherine has now died, she has prevented the enemy team from getting an ACE and a win.

Ultimate Ability- Blast Tremor

Catherine slams the ground, damaging & silencing enemies in a large cone in front of her.

DETAILS:
Damage: 370/495/620 (+1.30 Crystal)
Silence Duration: 2.5/3/3.5
Range: 11/11/11

• This Ability is 1 of 2 Silence Abilities. (The other being the Vox Ultimate Ability).
• Not a lot of people realise this, but a Silence, if inflicted upon the whole Team, is DEVASTATING. A Silence means, that the enemy would be able to kill you, without taking any Ability damage from you. This is especially devastating if the Team’s Laner is a Mage, (as Mages often get their main damage from Abilities).
