Waiver Wire Week 10 (#FantasyFootball)

Fantasy Football Top Waiver Adds Week 10

Ito Smith RB (Falcons)

(ESPN ownership 31.7%)

Ito Smith has now seen double-digit touches in 2 of the last 3 weeks with nine in the one he didn’t. The Falcons have continued to use a split backfield and with Freeman out it gives Ito the remaining work with Coleman. Smith is available in 70% of leagues now and with the number of opportunities, he has received he definitely has fantasy value.

Theo Riddick RB (Lions)

(ESPN ownership 16.5%)

While everyone was trying to figure out what receiver was going to take Golden Tate’s targets everyone ignored the most common sense answer (myself included). That man is Theo Riddick, Riddick has always been the safety valve for Matt Stafford and now without Tate there that role should increase. In his first game without Tate, Riddick was targeted 8 times for 7 catches. While it wasn’t efficient the volume is there and against defenses not as sound as the Vikings it could pay off later.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling WR (Packers)

(ESPN ownership 20.7%)

Marquez Valdez-Scantling is beginning to solidify himself as the Packers number 2 receiver. This week against the Patriots he was second on the team with targets with 6 converting it for three catches and 101 yards showcasing his big play ability. From here on out MVS should be giving teams a nice upside flex option and deeper leagues and is a must-own in dynasty.

Elijah McGuire RB (Jets)

(ESPN ownership 9.4%)

Adding anyone from the Jets’ offense feels gross especially after only putting up six points against Miami. The thing is with Bilal Powell out and the team playing from behind the receiving back is going to get volume and right now that’s looking like it’s going to be McGuire.  McGuire had 10 touches in his first action back for 67 yards. With him get more accustomed to the offense and building report with Darnold, we can look for a slight increase in volume.

Maurice Harris WR (Redskins)

(ESPN ownership 0.1%)

Who? This one may have been the surprise of the weekend, with a plethora of injuries to the receiving corps Maurice Harris stepped up for the Redskins. The second-year undrafted free agent was targeted 12 times for 10 catches and 124 yards. Seemingly out of nowhere Harris put up a top 10 fantasy performance based off of volume and not just a couple big plays which is worth noting. With nobody else stepping up all season for the Redskins, Harris may be worth a free agent flyer.

Jeff Heuerman TE (Broncos)

(ESPN ownership 7.9%)

Everyone knew the departure of Demaryius Thomas would open up targets on the Broncos offense. Not many thought Jeff Heuerman would be the main beneficiary. Heuerman led the team in targets and receptions (10 for 11) as well as scoring the Broncos only receiving touchdown. While this volume may not be every week it’s enough to put him in consideration as a startable tight end in a position group starving for stability.

Mike Davis RB (Seahawks)

(ESPN ownership 18.5%)

I feel like we just rotate Seahawks backs that we think are going to start. With Chris Carson hurt, the juice goes to Mike Davis. This week Davis had 22 touches putting him over a hundred yards making him a great play. If Carson continues to be out Davis should see this kind of workload since the Seahawks are committed to the run.

Duke Johnson Jr RB (Browns)

(ESPN ownership 49.5%)

It’s about time Duke Johnson found himself involved in the offense this season. All it took was a head coach and offensive coordinator change. Duke Johnson is one of the best receiving backs in the league which he reminded us this week catching 9 of 9 targets for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns. Johnson is available in over half of leagues in ESPN and could be PPR gold the remainder of the season if this trend continues.
