Quarterbacks

Colin Kaepernick-49ers

He is coming off a so-so Monday night performance, where he only accumulated just over 160 yards through the air. He did add another 41 yards with his legs, but, that wasn’t enough. If you are going to be as ineffective as he was in the passing game, you need to rush for more than 41 yards.

This week he gets a crack at the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the worst pass defenses in the league. You have to think, if he is going to put it together in the passing game, this is the week for it to happen.

Tyrod Taylor-Bills

Well, he exploded onto the scene in week 1. We expected him to have success with his legs, but, what we weren’t expecting was for him to have success in the passing game. I’m not sold on this offense, I believe there will be weeks where they are unable to get anything done. This will not be one of those weeks. The Patriots need help in the secondary.

He completed 73% of his passes, which is pretty impressive and makes his 195 passing yards look a lot better. One can say he did his job, Buffalo just didn’t call enough passing plays to truly support solid QB numbers. He did add another 41 yards in the rushing game, even though 31 of those yards came off 1 play.

The Patriots as a defense need some help in the secondary. I’m expecting once Taylor starts moving around and extending plays, the Patriots secondary won’t be able to hold the coverage and will be exposed again.

Marcus Mariota-Titans

Mariota gets the Browns this week, while on paper the Browns defense looks pretty stout, they spend too much time on the field. Come the 2nd half they are too gassed to make plays.
Mariota is coming off a monster game in week one, against the Bucs. While it’s true, Winston’s horrible start definitely helped him on his way to this monster game, Mariota deserves some credit as well.

The stats do not lie, he threw the ball for just 205 yards, far from impressive, he did add 4 TDs, but, if Winston didn’t turn the ball over so much, I have no doubt that TD number would drop a bit.

Mariota will be mobile again in week 2. The Browns defense will once again be on the field far too much. I’m expecting once they get gassed, Mariota will throw some touchdowns. This has the makings of another multi TD game.

Nick Foles-Rams

Foles and his Rams are coming off a big upset against the Seahawks. He threw for 297 yards and just 1 TD, but, that’s against the Seahawks defensive unit, which is one of the better units in the NFL.

This week they draw a matchup against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins defense isn’t a strong unit, Foles, should be able to move the ball against them. I’m thinking they have trouble covering Tavon Austin in the short passing game. Foles, should be able to take advantage of this defense in the short and intermediate game.

Tight ends

Vernon Davis-49ers

While I’m not a fan of Davis this season, it can’t be denied, this matchup, against the steelers, will present an opportunity to post some nice numbers. We watched this Steelers defense fail to cover Gronk, with that in mind, we have to understand, Vernon Davis is not Gronk, therefore, his numbers won’t be as high Gronk’s numbers against the Steelers.
Davis finished up Monday’s game with 2 grabs for 47 yards, not impressive and his numbers will be capped by kaepernick’s inability to move the ball in the passing game. However, if there is a matchup that you’re holding Davis for, this is it.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins-Buccanneers

If we learned anything watching the Bucs this Sunday, it would be that Jenkins is quickly becoming Winston’s favorite target. I’m not sure how many more weeks we can put him on the streaming article, he is quickly transforming into a fantasy star.

Last week he posted a beautiful, 5/110/2 Stat line, for the Bucs in the opening week of football. The fact that Winston had such a bad game and Jenkins was still able to make so much noise, is confirmation that he is going to be the real deal this year.

This week they get a Saints defense which has the potential, to be, one of the worst defenses in the league this season. We saw first hand the Saints defense allowed Fells, a blocking TE, to get in the passing game. The Saints have no chance to cover Jenkins this week.

Jared Cook-Rams-

Jared Cook disappoints us each and every year, but, this week, he has great matchup and I’m thinking Nick Foles is going to want to get him involved.

He finished up last week with 5/85, it looked like Nick Foles was developing a confidence throwing to him, I’m expecting that to continue, additionally, the Redskins had some trouble stopping the TE last week allowing 73 yards to Cameron.

Defense

Tennessee Titans

Last week this defense proved it has the ability to create turnovers. This isn’t the ideal defense that you wanna roll out for you team, but, the Brown offense should be a turnover machine this season.
