Week 6 – The Ultimate Guide to the Most Overvalued/Undervalued Fantasy Players

Well here we are staring into Week 6, and the first of many upcoming bye weeks.  We still have only one unbeaten team in the Cardinals, and the Chiefs fell again to the Bills.  The Chiefs are now 2-3 and last in the AFC West.  We have a long way to go but are starting to see a pattern of good versus great players.  This is why I dive into overvalued and undervalued players weekly.  If you ever have someone you think needs to be on this list, hit me up…I’m all ears!

Undervalued

Lamar Jackson QB Ravens

I like many others in the fantasy community, underrated him coming into this year.  Last season, he threw for 2,757 yards through 15 games.  He already has 1,519 yards through five games.   That puts him on pace to smash the 2020 season.  Week 5, he rallied his team from a 19-point deficit to win in OT with the Colts, and what a show he put on.  I for one have not given him enough credit, but he is proving to all the haters and doubters, that he is good.  Week 6, he faces the 4-1 Chargers, who have been on a roll with Herbert and Ekeler leading the way.

The Chargers’ defense just allowed the Browns to rush for 230 yards against them, so I expect Jackson to rush his legs out on Sunday.  I am excited to see rookie WR Bateman come back and explode next to Brown in the slot. Jackson might not be able to pull off victories every week, but he is must start going forward?  Absolutely.  Fire him up based on his rushing alone in Week 6 vs the Chargers.  Moving forward, I can only see him continue to produce. I don’t see many defensive challenges coming up besides the Vikings in Week 8.  So look to reap the 20+ points from him weekly!

Truth, he hasn’t done much up until Week 5, but he proved he can be the RB1 in Miami.  Week 4, he had only two touches, making fantasy managers drop him, but those of you that held on now have a huge “sell high” window.  I am not guaranteeing he will get 10 + touches every week and two touchdowns like he had in Week 5, but there is hope that Coach Flores saw that he can be that guy!  Week 6, Gaskin faces the Jags defense that has allowed an average of 121 rushing yards per game.  Let’s try to make a trade to an RB weak team and get something great in return!  Owned in 80% or ESPN leagues, if you have him, look to trade him.  I would feel good about starting him as a flex or RB2 this week as well.

Overvalued

Patrick Mahomes QB Chiefs

Ok hear me out, I know what you all are thinking, but I did speak on the Chiefs at the beginning of this article.  They just got beaten in every aspect of the game to the Bills (who I have 12-1 Superbowl odds prior to the start of season).   Mahomes looks off, it is that he is a new daddy and not firmly focusing on the game?  Is that every year it seems like the Superbowl losers have a down season?  Week 5, Mahomes was 33 of 54 with two interceptions.  Now, I am suggesting you sit him?  Absolutely not!  What I am saying is something is going on in the Chiefs clubhouse.

Mahomes was taken in redraft leagues in the top 5 picks in some places over starting RB and that might be regretted by some.  It just seems like expectations of week in and week out dazzling performances might need to be tempered.  Look for him to rebound against the struggling Washington Football Team’s defense with 300 + yards and three touchdowns.  Let’s also hope I am wrong and his slow start is just a fluke.

Stefon Diggs WR Bills

In Week 5, he only caught 2 passes for 68 yards. He has only caught one touchdown…period! All I know is that Allen is on fire and is throwing to every Bills’ offensive player but Diggs. The offense is exploding with the highest-scoring, most targets, and receptions in the league, yet according to FantasyPros, he has not been ranked higher than WR 19 through the first five games this season. That is crazy considering that he finished as the 3rd best WR in 2020 with 1,535 yards. I know this all has to be a bad break, that Allen is finding Knox and Sanders open more often and Diggs is having a hard time shaking defenders. I say buy now.

Trade for him while fantasy owners are doubting him and struggling with his weekly output. I mean his one huge bomb week 5 was a beautiful 61-yard deep ball, so we know he still has juice. Diggs faces a weaker Titans defense Week 6, then has a bye. Post bye they play the Dolphins, Jags, and Jets. So I know brighter days are ahead, but sometimes it is hard to see the forest for the trees because owners need consistency and Diggs has been the complete opposite. To date, he has been overvalued, but have faith and look to the future. He is a beast, and I have faith in his abilities, but he is not living up to his ADP and that obviously has some of us worried. What do you think?
