Running Backs

David JohnsonCardinals

In some leagues, this guy could have been a late round flier, but, in most leagues, he is going to be available. Ellington will miss a few weeks of action and Chris Johnson should pick up the most work in the backfield the first week or two. However, the bottom line here, is Ellington being banged up this early in the year is a bad sign for him. David Johnson is still a top Waiver Wire claim this early into the season.

They seemed to give the nod to Chris Johnson, once Ellington went down but, It was David Johnson that made the impact play on a 52 yard touchdown. Chris Johnson might have more value for right now, but David Johnson has a much higher fantasy ceiling for 2015.

Ronnie HillmanBroncos

C.J Anderson is already banged up to start the season, so that a positive, if you’re thinking about scooping up Ronnie Hillman this week. Even with Anderson in the line up Hillman is going to get work. Combine the injury with the fact that they play on Thursday and we may see a heavy workload for Hillman as early as week 2.
The Denver offensive line did nothing for the rushing game last Sunday, so I’m not putting much stock in Hillman’s low numbers. He is the 2nd best waiver wire claim this week, as far as RBs are concerned.

Chris Johnson-Cardinals

For the short term he may be the more valuable play. If you need a week 2 starter this is the guy for you. He has the least amount of upside of any RB you will find on this list.

Josh RobinsonColts

With Frank Gore getting banged up last Sunday that swings the door wide open for impressive rookie talent, Josh Robinson. If Gore misses time, he stands to get the most work of any RB on this list. He is far from the least talented RB on this list aswell.

We can’t put too much stock in what we saw in the buffalo game this week. The Bills are a defensive powerhouse and will give every offense they play a headache. I’m still a fan of owning Andre Luck’s RBs. He will see an empty box on most of his runs.

Dion Lewis-Patriots

Well let’s start with the obvious, Blount will be back next week and he should dominate the running aspect of this backfield. Lewis did look ready to step into the Shane Vereen role.
If he can get the touches Vereen was getting last year, in this backfield, he could have a sustainable amount of work to be an every week contributor.

However, it is worth noting, Belechick or Belitricks as I like to call him is his coach and Lewis did put the ball on the ground. So there is a chance we never see him again.

Wide Receivers

James JonesPackers

He is easily the number 1 waiver wire claim this week. He exploded onto the scene this week and was a major contributor, if you were smart enough to grab him before this weeks games kicked off.
If he is available in your league you need to go out and claim him right now.

Donte Moncrief-Colts

This is another guy that could have went off as a late round flier in your drafts. With that said, if he is available, he needs to be rostered in all leagues. He is a high end, athletic talent and may finally get enough time on the the field to showcase his talent.

Also worth noting that he isn’t the type of WR that commands targets and they still have a lot of targets to throw to, so, if he doesn’t produce he can get lost in the shuffle.

Cole BeasleyCowboys

With Dez Bryant going down for 4-6 weeks 2 things are going to happen. 1) the Cowboys are going to shift to a more run heavy offensive Philosophy. 2) Terrence Williams isn’t talented enough to step up and be the WR the Cowboys are going to need.

I certainly am not saying Cole Beasley is an Allstar, but, he is far more reliable than Terrence Williams. Whether it be fake football or real football.

Phillip DorsettColts

The argument can be made, that Moncrief isn’t the WR who will prosper the most if Hilton Misses time. Philip Dorsett, is another option the Colts could go to. More than likely, they will split the Hilton touches between each other, further clouding this WR group.

Percy HarvinBills

He is coming off a big game this week. guys will be looking for WRs that can play immediately. He is one of those guys that are ready to produce, at full capacity, right now. Is his full capacity good enough to help you win though? It will be in some weeks, but, the Bills will be a far from consistent offense this year.

Brandon ColemanSaints

In the real deep leagues he was probably a late round flier in your drafts. If he is available in you’re league, you have to consider adding him. He put forward a solid effort last Sunday and will look to build on that in week 2. I like his talent a lot and fully expect him to get ahead of Colston at some point this season. This is a major upside swing here, but, he already edged out Colston in snaps in game one. The arrow is pointing up.

Terrance Williams-Cowboys

i’m not his biggest fan that is no mystery. If he is available on your waiver wire, he is worth a grab being he is the only deep threat the Cowboys have on the roster. I Personally believe the Cowboys will run more, use a double tightend set and use Cole Beasley more.

Tight End

Eric Ebron-Lions

He didn’t get off to a great start last Sunday, as he dropped his first target of the game. He rebounded rather quickly, turning in a touchdown, in a sold performance. This might not be his week on the wire, as there are better options available than him, but, if a lot of TEs get claimed, grab him with confidence.

It’s worth noting the Lions WRs were not good this week and will certainly play better most weeks, so his opportunities should decrease a bit. I still like his chances at piling up some touchdowns this year though.

Jordan Reed-Redskins

Jordan Reed looked impressive last Sunday for the Redskins. With DeSean Jackson slated to miss some time, this is the guy they will look for, to pick it up in the passing game.

His durability is very concerning and chances of him finishing a whole season will be minimal, but, since he is healthy and Djax is out, he should make a weekly impact.

Austin Seferian-JenkinsBuccaneers

This dude dropped a monster game while his QB had possibly the worst game we will see out of him this season. The big numbers he dropped in a miserable Bucs effort is encouraging.

He should spend the year jumping around the top 10 on the leader boards in all leagues and formats.

Ladarius Green-Chargers

This could be a short lived pick up, due to the fact that Gates is slated to return for week 5. However, he is very athletic and talented and if he continues to play like he did last week, it will be hard to keep him off the field for an aging Gates.

Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor-Bills

There is no denying what he did last Sunday. He led this bills offense to a win, his ability to move the pocket and scramble makes him a headache for opposing defenses.

I can only feel so good about this pick up though. This offense isn’t a lock every week, there will be some down weeks. The verdict is still out on whether he has more good weeks or bad weeks.

Ryan Fitzpatrick-Jets

He doesn’t have a ton of upside, but, if we learned anything from watching the jets offense, it is that they won’t be as bad as many expected. Fitzpatrick has proven while he isn’t a game changer he can be a competent starter.

Much like with Tyrod Taylor, he will also have a share of bad weeks. The tough decision is saying if he will have more good weeks or bad weeks.

Marcus Mariota-Titans

The theme for quarterbacks in this article has been that they will be inconsistent, so let’s stick with that theme. Much like every QB listed before him, Mariota, will have his good weeks and his bad weeks.

His monster week one will certainly push him to the front of this list of QBs. He easily has the most upside of the group, if given the choice I would take the plunge on Mariota.

Johnny Manziel-Browns

When he first got in the game last Sunday, he had an impressive run that was called back by a penalty. He responded by hitting Benjamin on a touchdown strike.

The offense did not look good though when Manziel was leading it. I wouldn’t add him unless I was in a 2 QB league.
