Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers

The NL Central has become one of the most competitive divisions in the league. Not many saw this division being a powerhouse this season and it now has 3 teams with a winning record and 1 .500 team. The Brewers have returned to winning form that we saw a couple seasons ago. They are 38-29 and have gone 7-3 in their past 10 games.

To avoid the sweep, the Brewers will start Peralta (6-1). Through 68 innings he has 98 Ks and 29 BB with an ERA of 2.25 and a WHIP of 0.88. Some pretty solid numbers so far this season.

The Reds (34-31) are rolling this season in their own regard after trading away Cy Young winner Bauer. Many thought this team was headed towards a rebuild but they have defied expectations. They boast a 5 game winning streak and are 8-2 in their last 10 games.

The Reds will send out Mahle (6-2) to the mound. Mahle has been been red hot this season through 68.1 innings of action. He has thrown 78 Ks with 21 BB while maintaining an ERA of 3.56 and a WHIP of 1.11.

The Brewers are the favorite despite losing the first two games to the Reds. The Brewers get the slight advantage at pitching and nearly won last game. The Brewers should avoid the sweep making the Brewers ML the play.

San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies

The Rockies have entered full rebuild mode after several disappointing seasons. They can still put up a lot of runs in a game at random as witnessed in game 2. They are 27-41 and have gone 4-6 in the past 10 games.

To complete the sweep, the Rockies will send out Freeland (0-2) who hasn’t pitched more than 4.0 innings all season. Through 17 innings, he has both 9 Ks and 9 BB while owning a 9.00 ERA and a WHIP of 2.12.

The Padres (38-31) are 3rd in heavily stacked NL West. They will have to pick things up a bit in order to secure a playoff spot despite having a decent season. The Padres can easily do this as they get used to the new squad. They have all the tools to make a deep playoff run. They haven’t been playing too well as of late and are 2-8 in their 10 last games.

The Padres will send out new comer and veteran Snell (2-3). Despite his record, Snell has pitched fairly decent. He has seen 58 innings with 84 Ks and 34 BB with a WHIP and ERA of 1.45 and 4.97, respectively.

The Padres are the favorite on the road with a line of -180. The likely hood of the Rockies completing the sweep against the Padres is minimal despite their recent play. The Padres ML is the play.
