Fantasy Football Week 7 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before diving in to Week 7, let’s do the accountability session for Week 6 (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Trevor Lawrence-15.86 points
Tight End: Ricky Seals-Jones-13.8 points
Team Defense-Cincinnati Bengals-7 points

Six teams are on a bye in Week 7, with loads of fantasy starters unavailable with the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars idle. A “bye-mageddon”, as some have said.

Here are my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 7.

Quarterback: Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs. Atlanta Falcons

Tagovailoa returned from a rib injury in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he completed 33 of 47 passes for 329 yards with two touchdowns and an interception (along with 22 rushing yards). Another nice matchup is on the slate in Week 7.

The Atlanta Falcons are coming out of a Week 6 bye allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to quarterback (22.3). They have allowed at least three passing touchdowns to three of the five signal callers they’ve faced, and three have run for more than 35 yards against. Two (Jalen Hurts, Taylor Heinicke) did both.

A bad and injury-thinned Dolphins’ defense promises plenty of pass volume for Tagovailoa, no matter which pass catchers are or are not available. A potential shootout in South Beach on Sunday makes the second-year lefty my top quarterback streamer for Week 7.

Others To Consider: Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts at San Francisco 49ers (Sunday night); Justin Fields, Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Teddy Bridgewater, Denver Broncos at Cleveland Browns (Thursday night, check injury status); Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks (Monday night); Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins; Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Philadelphia Eagles; Mac Jones, New England Patriots vs. New York Jets; Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team at Green Bay Packers

Tight End: Ricky Seals-Jones, Washington Football Team at Green Bay Packers

Seals-Jones had four receptions for 58 yards and a 39-yard touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6. With Logan Thomas (hamsting) on IR, “RS-J” has been virtually an every-snap player for Washington over the last two-plus game. The matchup isn’t quite as good in Week 7, but Thomas will be out again as he misses the third of a three-game minimum stint on IR.

The Green Bay Packers are barely in the bottom half of the league against tight ends through Week 6 (Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR). But they have allowed 13 touchdown passes this season, tied for fourth-most in the league. So there’s an angle there, with Seals-Jones occupying a significant role in a pass offense that’s still looking for consistent options beyond Terry McLaurin. Another pass-heavy game script is coming against the Packers.

Seals-Jones came through as my top tight end streamer last week. I’m confidently going back to the well in Week 7.

Others To Consider: Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals vs. Houston Texans (check ownership); Evan Engram, New York Giants vs. Carolina Panthers; Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Mo Alie-Cox, Indianapolis Colts at San Francisco 49ers (Sunday night); C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

Team Defense: New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks (Monday night)

Before their Week 6 bye, the Saints had multiple sacks in four of five games with at least one interception in all five contests (multiple interceptions three times). A Week 7 matchup that didn’t look great just two weeks ago now looks a whole lot better.

The Seattle Seahawks will be without quarterback Russell Wilson (finger) and running back Chris Carson (neck) for at least two more games. The running back room got thinner in Week 6, with Alex Collins suffering a hip injury late. Collins may be able to go next Monday night, but it’s also possible DeeJay Dallas becomes the lead back for Seattle. In any case, Geno Smith will get a second start under center in place of Wilson.

The New Orleans defense stretches toward (and a little beyond, in ESPN leagues) the 50 percent ownership threshold to generally qualify as a streamer before weekly waivers clear. But a very thin week for good, widely available options and a good-looking matchup against Seattle puts them atop the list of D/ST streamers for Week 7.
