5 Deep League Players To Add Now (Week 10)

I’m so sorry. Last week’s running backs were a mess. Right after we published, Matt Breida was declared out for the week, and Eno Benjamin pipe dream served as nothing more than a reminder that what I want means nothing to the Arizona Cardinals.

Luckily, though, for the loyal readers, you got to see more of the guys mention here producing, with David Moore, Danny Amendola, Rex Burkhead, and others all starting to produce.

This week’s adds are sure to be success stories. No more Eno Benjamins or Chris Herndon IVs.

Without further adieu, here are this week’s players:

Running Back

Salvon Ahmed, Miami Dolphins (available in 99% of Yahoo! leagues)
Last week I wrote about Matt Breida. Unfortunately, Breida got hurt. Fortunately, that injury opened the door for Ahmed, an undrafted rookie out of Washington. The story looks familiar; the Dolphins’ most accomplished running back is Jordan Howard, who the head coach (and the entire world) knows won’t get you any production, so he decides to trust an unknown Washington Husky. It happened with Myles Gaskin, and it’s happening again with Ahmed. Last week, Ahmed led the backfield in touches and turned seven carries into 38 yards. If Breida is back, Ahmed’s opportunity may be limited, but if Breida remains out, Ahmed will lead this backfield again.

Troymaine Pope, Los Angeles Chargers (available in 97% of Yahoo! leagues)
Pope last played in Week 8 when he erupted, seemingly out of nowhere, for 67 yards on ten carries. It’s become quite clear that this backfield doesn’t have much of a role for Joshua Kelley anymore, as evidence by the fact that last week, with Pope out, Kalen Ballage led the group. Yes, the same Kalen Ballage that averaged 1.8 YPC in 2019. Justin Jackson left early last week with an injury and has been questionable all week. Should Jackson miss another game, Pope will overtake Ballage with ease and see a stable workload.

Wide Receiver

Chris Conley, Jacksonville Jaguars (available in 99% of Yahoo! leagues)
The sample size is small, but in one game with Jake Luton under center, Conley drew eight targets, catching seven. Throughout his career, both in Kansas City and Jacksonville, he’s performed admirably when the opportunities are there, culminating in 775 yards last year with the Jags. He has major bust potential, but wouldn’t it be nice if he boomed? Against Green Bay this week, the Jags will likely be playing from behind, and in a game where Luton will have to throw the ball, those eight looks a week ago are awfully tasty.

Breshad Perriman and Denzel Mims, New York Jets (both available in +90% of Yahoo! leagues)
The Jets are bad. They’re oh so bad. However, their receivers are sneaky good, and Sam Darnold is a talented guy in a crummy situation. These names won’t help you this week as the Jets are on a bye, but snag them for next week and beyond. Mims recently came back from injury and has responded with over 40 yards in each game, drawing 18 looks in those three games. His return has also opened up more room for the former bust, Perriman, to the tune of 101 yards and two scores last week. Already trending in the right direction, throw in a potential Adam Gase canning, and you’ll have two very talented guys catching balls from a talented young quarterback who has just been in a challenging situation thus far.

Tight End

Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams (available in 92% of Yahoo! leagues)
Rams tight ends have been tough to trust this season, with Everett and Tyler Higbee both putting up good games and duds already. If ever there was a chance to bank on a big game, it would be this week. The Rams play Seattle, who are, to put it lightly, terrible against the pass. Everett’s usage before the bye was his highest of the year, and if you combine that with the fact that Jared Goff should throw 50+ passes this week, you have yourself a fine dart play. Some of those passes have to go to Everett, right? Like, they have to. Like, they’d better.
