Best DraftKings Week 3 NFL DFS Advice (9/24/23)

Welcome back to my weekly DFS article! I had a pretty good week with my picks and lineups last week! Jared Goff and Josh Reynolds came through as well as Mike Evans! Tee Higgins also had a terrific bounce-back performance! I’ll leave a link to that article at the end.

I hope you all had success as well! Going forward, I will be focusing my DFS picks on DraftKings as I feel their DFS product is superior to FanDuel’s and DraftKings is where I play the most. With that being said, let’s dive into an exciting week 3 main slate!

Quarterbacks

  • Justin Herbert ($7,500) @ MIN
    • This game has the highest total of the week at 53.5. It should provide a great game environment for Herbert to have an explosive game. I like playing him with Keenan Allen and Gerald Everett as leverage off the popular Mike Williams. If you decide to pair Herbert with two WRs instead of Everett, I think Hockenson is a phenomenal bring back on Minnesota’s side.
  • Tua Tagovailoa ($7,000) vs. DEN
    • Do I even have to say much about this one? Denver’s pass defense has been vulnerable and the Dolphins’ offense has been one of the best in the league. It is looking like Durham Smythe will be highly owned at his cheap price tag, so I favor doing a single stack with Tyreek who should be less owned than last week with his $9k price tag.
  • C.J. Stroud ($5,300) @ JAC
    • C.J. Stroud has thrown 47 and 44 passes in the first two weeks of the season!! Houston has clearly shown they are not afraid to let their 2nd overall quarterback air it out. At $5,300, with cheap pass-catching options to stack with, Stroud stacks will open up a lot of salary to allocate at other positions. If Houston gets behind early, we could see another solid fantasy outing for Stroud.

Runningbacks

  • Kenneth Walker III ($6,200) vs. CAR
    • This one may be my pick of the week. After two middling performances to start the year, the field should be looking elsewhere at RB. But Carolina’s run defense has been so bad, this is the best matchup for Walker to have a ceiling game. Playing this defense gives Walker the upside to be the top RB on the slate, and at $6,200 he is a smash.
  • Jahmyr Gibbs ($6,600) vs. ATL
    • This is the moment for Gibbs to announce himself to the world. I am not scared of Craig Reynolds at all, and if Gibbs fails because Dan Campbell gives Craig Reynolds more touches, then so be it. But I am willing to take the shot on Gibbs and his elite talent getting the lead role at $6,600.
  • Brian Robinson Jr. ($5,800) vs. BUF
    • I was in on Brian Robinson last week and I’m picking him again this week. The tropical storm hitting the East Coast is threatening this game to be an ugly one. If there’s heavy rain, anticipate Robinson seeing a lot of work on the ground. He appears to be pulling away from Gibson in the race for the lead back and he is still being priced quite low so I love him at $5,800 this week.

Wide Receivers

  • Nico Collins ($5,300) @ JAC
    • Going along with my Stroud pick here. Collins appears to be separating himself as the WR1 in this offense. He is beginning to break through and I want to continue playing him so long as his price remains below $6,000. I love this game and think Collins is a great pick with Stroud or as a bring back versus the Jags.
  • Jordan Addison ($5,500) vs. LAC
    • As stated earlier, this is the best game of the week. Addison may come in lower owned than Osborne due to their difference in price, which makes me really like Addison. We’re all expecting him to overtake Osborne at some point, and I think this could be the game where he breaks out in a big way. He is a great play with Cousins or as a bring back.
  • Calvin Ridley ($7,200) vs. HOU
    • I went with Ridley last week at $7,200, and his price didn’t change so I’m going back to the well. Despite Christian Kirk re-emerging in this offense last week, Ridely still appears to have a firm grip on the top wideout spot in Jacksonville. I’m hoping Houston will be able to push the Jags here and force them to throw a lot, leading to a better game environment for Ridley to thrive.

Tight Ends

  • T.J. Hockenson ($6,500) vs. LAC
    • I love Hockenson as leverage off of Justin Jefferson. Hock showed his tremendous ceiling that only a handful of tight ends possess. The field should largely be off him given the price tag. Add those two things with this game environment and I think he’s the best TE GPP play on the slate. A good way to get different with Minnesota stacks is to pair Hockenson with Addison and fade Jefferson.
  • Luke Musgrave ($3,300) vs. NO
    • Musgrave has been pretty highly owned the past two weeks but has failed to produce a meaningful fantasy finish. This should mean the field is moving off him, and I’m ready to swoop in on him now. Facing New Orleans makes this a bit riskier, but every tight end is risky. Even if Christian Watson returns, I like Musgrave in GPPs.
  • Juwan Johnson ($3,500) @ GB
    • I don’t feel great about many tight ends on this slate, but Johnson should provide some upside that most of the tight ends around his price range do not have. At his price tag and the fact that very few will be playing him, I like Johnson this week.

Defense

  • New York Jets ($2,800) vs. NE
    • At $2,800, I am finding it really hard to pass on the Jets defense this week. Facing an okay offense in New England, the Jets are an amazing value for their price.
  • Washington Commanders ($2,400) vs. BUF
    • As mentioned before, this game may get ugly due to the weather. I already liked Washington’s defense before I realized this storm may impact the game. Josh Allen is turnover prone and Washington’s defense has looked pretty good with the return of Chase Young. Given those two factors, Washington is my favorite defense this week.
