Brandon’s Bargains: FanDuel Week 2 NFL (Sun-Mon)

A few of my bargains came through during Week One, led by quarterback Alex Smith and the Jets defense.  I think one of the top bargains of the week that I missed in my past article but was able to place into my lineups prior to kickoff was Chargers running back Danny Woodhead with 62 total yards and two touchdowns.  Let’s take a look at some players you could use to round out your star-filled rosters for Week Two:

Brandon’s Bargains: NFL DFS FanDuel Week 2

Quarterback

Nick Foles ($6,500)
Opponent: at Redskins

If you take away Foles’s  two lost fumbles against the Seahawks, Foles had a very solid debut as the Rams quarterback.  While the Redskins defense aren’t pushovers, Foles should find it easier to move up and down the field this Sunday.  The Redskins do a good job at stopping the run, but injuries across their secondary leave that aspect of their defense easier to exploit.  Look for Foles to have a multiple touchdown performance.

Running Backs

Alfred Blue ($5,700)
Opponent: at Panthers

Quick scores by the Chiefs took the Texans running game right out of the game in their opening day loss.  While the Panthers held Jacksonville to under 100 yards rushing last week, Blue is a better back than what the Jaguars had to offer.  If the Texans defense can keep the Panthers from jumping out in front early Blue could be in for a good bounce back game.

Chris Johnson ($5,700)
Opponent: at Bears

Chris Johnson will get the first crack at filling in for injured starter Andre Ellington this weekend as the Cardinals take on the Bears.  While his “CJ2K” days are well behind him, there is potential for a vintage game against a leaky Bears defense which gave up 133 rushing yards to the Packers in Week One.

Wide Receivers

Pierre Garcon ($5,400)
Opponent: vs Rams

With Desean Jackson scheduled to miss about month with a hamstring injury, Garçon becomes the top target for quarterback Kirk Cousins.  These two have shown over the few starts that Cousins has had that they have good chemistry on the field together.  While the Rams defense is tough across the board, Garçon should have a stat line that exceeds his price point.

Terrance Williams ($6,300)
Opponent: at Eagles

Another #2 receiver ready to step up for an increase in production is Terrance Williams with Dez Bryant out indefinitely with his foot injury suffered in the win over the Giants.  The Eagles secondary has been weak under Chip Kelly, and it looks like this season will be no different.  With Tony Romo under center, Williams should be able to put together a string of good performances filling in as the top receiver.

Tight Ends

Jordan Reed ($5,000)
Opponent: vs Rams

Reed showed what he’s capable of doing when healthy (seven catches, 63 yards and a TD) against a tough Dolphins defense.  Cousins has shown a willingness to pass to Reed in key situations and red zone opportunities, so I look at Reed as a must-have at the tight end spot as long as his value stays low and production stays high.

Josh Hill ($5,000)
Opponent: vs Bucs

Hill had a very disappointing games against the Cardinals Week One but should find it an easier going against the Buccaneers in New Orleans.  Hill has huge shoes to fill since Jimmy Graham departed for Seattle, but this weekend Hill should show why the coaching staff has faith in him as the starter at the tight end position.

Kickers

Ryan Succop ($4,600)
Opponent: at Browns

The Titans offense walked up and down the field against Tampa Bay which led to Succop being relegated to extra point duty.  The Browns defense should be a stiffer test for this young offense which should lead to a few field goals being attempted and made.

Josh Lambo ($4,500)
Opponent: at Bengals

Lambo hit two field goals against the Lions on Sunday and faces off against a tough Bengals defense on the road Week Two.  The Chargers score less when they have to travel cross-country which should correlate into more opportunities for Lambo to make his mark in the game.

Defense

Jaguars Defense ($4,600)
Opponent: vs Dolphins

The Dolphins struggled to move the ball in Washington last week and needed a punt return for touchdown to seal the victory.  The Jaguars defense generally plays tough at home and should make life difficult for Miami’s inconsistent offense this Sunday.

Titans Defense ($4,600)
Opponent: at Browns

If Johnny Manziel starts on Sunday, with reports coming out that’s he’s been taking first team reps in practice which indicates he will, the Titans have a great opportunity to score a defensive touchdown for a second straight week.  The Titans ranked 8th in total defense last week and should improve on that mark, whether Manziel starts or not.

That’s it for Week Two.  Feel free to comment below with some of your personal bargains for this weekend’s slate of games.  Good luck everyone!
