Brandon’s Bargains: NFL FanDuel DFS Week 5 Sunday-Monday

Last week’s bargain was by far Cairo Santos.  With a price of only $4,600 last week, players who rostered him were rewarded with a 27 point effort.  Let’s see if I can find another gem in this week’s edition of Brandon’s Bargains:

Quarterbacks

Blake Bortles $6,900
Opponent: at Buccaneers

Bortles has been over 270 passing yards two of the last three games with five touchdowns during that stretch.  He is also contributing around 25 rushing yards a game as well.  While on paper this isn’t an ideal matchup (Tampa is tied for second in pass defense) this could one of those games where you can throw stats out the window as the Jaguars have been playing better on offense lately and Tampa seems to be going in the wrong direction.

Alex Smith $6,900
Opponent vs Bears

Alex Smith is really starting to get into a rhythm with his newest big play receiver in Jeremy Maclin and faces a Bears team that has given up the second most passing touchdowns this season.  Smith has thrown for 676 yards his previous two games.

Running Backs

T.J. Yeldon $6,600
Opponent: at Buccaneers

Yeldon has gone over 24 touches in two of his previous games and faces a Buccaneers team that ranks 30th against the run.  Although he hasn’t scored a touchdown yet in his very young career, it seems like this week will be as good as any to find the endzone.

Anthony Dixon $4,500
Opponent: at Titans

This would be a huge gamble, but Anthony Dixon will get the start this weekend against the Titans with both McCoy and Williams sitting this one out.  He will most likely be in some sort of a timeshare but it’s safe to assume he will get the majority of the carries.  If you are looking for an ultra cheap player to use in order to have more top name players in your lineup this weekend Dixon is your guy.  With great risk could possibly come great reward.

Wide Receivers

Leonard Hankerson $6,000
Opponent: vs Redskins

I’m always a big fan of the “revenge game”.  Former Redskins and current Falcons receiver Leonard Hankerson gets an opportunity to stick it to his former team on Sunday.  The Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is also a former Redskins coordinator.  Combine that with the attention Julio Jones will be getting, Hankerson could be in line for a big game.

Kendall Wright $5,900
Opponent: vs Bills

Fresh off a bye week the Titans are home against the Buffalo Bills.  This matchup is a memorable one for me, I was 14 years old when I watched the “Music City Miracle” occur.  Except for his Week 2 matchup with Browns stud corner Joe Haden, Wright’s other two games have seen him get a minimum of 95 yards and a touchdown.  That’s great production at this price point.

Tight Ends

Owen Daniels $4,900
Opponent: at Raiders

The Broncos pass attack is starting to heat up and Daniels has a touchdown catch in each of their past two games, despite his receiving yards being very low.  Against the Raiders this weekend, Daniels could improve in both of those categories.

Antonio Gates $5,500
Opponent: vs Steelers

Gates makes his return from his four game suspension Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  I fully expect Gates to quickly return to being Philip Rivers’s top red zone target.  Gates could make his return in a big way.

Kickers

Ryan Succop $4,600
Opponent: vs Bills

Succop has failed to score 10 points in a game this year but I believe this will be the week he will do it.  The Bills defense hasn’t been playing inconsistent so far this season and the Titans should get into field goal range multiple times this Sunday.  I don’t see the Titans scoring more than 20 points which could signal a good game from their kicker.

Cairo Santos $4,600
Opponent: vs Bears

Santos came up big last week making all seven of his field goal attempts and the Chiefs face off against a weak Bears defense.  While I don’t expect him to match last week’s point total, he should be poised for another good game.

Defense

Bengals Defense $4,700
Opponent: vs Seahawks

The undefeated Bengals take on the Seattle Seahawks at home in which should be one of the best games of this weekend.  The Seahawks have given up plenty of sacks to opposing defenses and the Bengals should be able to keep the Seahawks passing attack under control.

Ravens Defense $4,500
Opponent: vs Browns

The Ravens have had plenty of success against the Browns in recent matchups and tomorrow should be no different.  While I’m not expecting a shutout, the Ravens should get some sacks and force a couple of turnovers in this one.
