Brandon’s Bargains: NFL FanDuel DFS Week 6 (Sunday-Monday)

Blake Bortles and Antonio Gates were huge value plays from my column last week.  You probably were pretty successful if you rostered them both.  Here are my bargain plays for Week 6:

Quarterback

Brian Hoyer $6,700
Opponent: at Jaguars

Hoyer’s number came back up the Houston Texans carousel of quarterbacks and faces a Jaguars team that’s ranked 21st against the pass.  A Hoyer/Hopkins stack could be beneficial this week

Teddy Bridgewater $6,600
Opponent: vs Chiefs

While Kansas City’s pass defense has improved some the past couple of weeks since their top corner Sean Smith has returned, they’re still near the bottom of the heap in terms of pass defense.  Bridgewater isn’t known for his passing but if he’s going to have a good game throwing the ball this could be it.

Running Back

Charcandrick West ($6,200) and Knile Davis ($5,500)
Opponent: at Vikings

It could be a coin flip as far as we’re concerned in terms of who will get the majority of the carries from this point forward with Jamaal Charles out for the season.  While Davis is the more talented back (my opinion) and will most likely still get short yardage and goal line carries, West seems to be in line to get first crack at the job.  West is more Charles-like in terms of size and pass catching ability, so it would allow the Chiefs to maintain some stability in the offensive scheme.  If you want to take a chance on either of these backs, the price point will allow for a low expectation in points and to spend big elsewhere.

C.J. Anderson $6,600
Opponent: at Browns

Anderson has been a massive disappointment for what owners he has left this season, but this looks like a good game to own him when the Broncos travel to Cleveland.  Denver should go up early and Anderson should have a decent game against the Browns 18th ranked run defense.

Wide Receiver

Kamar Aiken $6,000
Opponent: at 49ers

Aiken has done well the past two games as the Ravens primary target.  The 49ers are 30th against the pass and Aiken could be looking at his third productive game in a row.

Marquess Wilson $5,400
Opponent: at Lions

The Bears offense has shown some life since Jay Cutler‘s return from injury and faces a reeling Lions team that just can’t seem to get on track.  With Alshon Jeffery still an uncertainty, Wilson could be looking at another game as the Bears primary receiver.

Tight End

Julius Thomas $5,200
Opponent: vs Texans

Thomas made his long-awaited debut with the Jaguars and had a meager two catches for 20 yards.  I expect him to greatly improve on those numbers against the Texans this weekend.  A talented tight end always seems to put up big numbers whenever a young quarterback is involved and this situation shouldn’t be any different.

Antonio Gates $5,500
Opponent: at Packers

There was no market adjust on Antonio Gate’s price after his season debut so I’ll have him on my list for the second week in a row.  The Chargers will have to throw and most likely spend a healthy portion of this game playing from behind so Gates should figure in pretty nicely in the Chargers passing attack.

Kicker

Justin Tucker $4,800
Opponent: at 49ers

This figures to be an ugly game to watch on television, but with ugly games normally comes a higher rate of field goal kicking.  Tucker is one of the more accurate kickers in the league and could very well knock in multiple field goals in Sunday’s game.

Nick Folk $4,700
Opponent: vs Redskins

Folk figures to play a key role in what could be a defensive struggle between the Jets and Redskins.  He has scored at least seven points in every game this season and I expect Folk to cross the ten point barrier on Sunday.

Defense

Bears Defense $4,300
Opponent: at Lions

Matthew Stafford has six turnovers (five interceptions and one fumble lost) in his last two starts and faces a Bears defense that has put together two decent efforts in a row.  I see both trends continuing Sunday.

Vikings Defense $4,500
Opponent: vs Chiefs

Teams tend to struggle when losing their best player on either side of the ball, and the Vikings should capitalize this week when they face Kansas City in their first game without Jamaal Charles.
