CFL DFS Best Dollar Values DraftKings Week 4

Happy Canada Day to everyone who will celebrate the July long weekend. One of the best ways to participate in festivities is to watch Canadian Football League games, and maybe even win some money playing Daily Fantasy Sports. As always, I am here to present CFL DFS DraftKings prices, and explain which players I believe are the best dollar-for-dollar values on this Week 4 slate. In my previous article, I got a few calls right, especially at the QB position. I do have another strong conviction with quarterbacks this week, so let’s get right to it!

Quarterback

Jeremiah Masoli (OTT) $10,000 vs BC

The BC Lions have put up back-to-back dominant performances to start the season. But those came in the Lions’ season-opener and then after their early bye week. Now, let us see how the team will handle a short week. After playing on Saturday, June 25th, the Lions will travel to Ottawa to face the RedBlacks on Thursday, June 29th. To double their trouble, BC is getting only four days of rest against a team coming off of a bye week of their own.

The other aspect to remember, Jeremiah Masoli is a better QB than anyone the Lions have battled so far this season. Through two contests, Masoli has amassed over 350 passing yards per game, 2nd most in the CFL. Now, he has yet to hit his ceiling since he has only scored 1 passing TD over two games combined. However, both of those matches were against Winnipeg, the two-time defending Grey Cup champion. While the BC Lions have been impressive thus far this season, I do not believe they are as good of a defensive unit as Winnipeg. Especially on only 4 days rest, I like Masoli to have his breakout game of 2022 here in Week 4.

Dane Evans (HAM) $8,200 vs EDM

While I strongly recommend Masoli as the top QB this week, I also understand that some prefer to pay down at QB. Well, the least expensive starting QB in Week 4 is Dane Evans. And he should have a much better outing than in Week 3. Instead of playing the two-time defending Grey Cup champs, Hamilton will take on an 0-3 Edmonton team. This should be a much better situation for Evans to produce.

Running Back

Andrew Harris (WPG) $9,300 vs TOR

Andrew Harris hosts his hometown team after spending 5 seasons on Winnipeg’s roster. Now he stays in blue, but instead of with the Bombers, Harris is now a member of the Argonauts. So far in Toronto, he has reprised his role as a workhorse back who will always be involved in the passing game. But without the efficiency of being on Winnipeg, he may not see the same type of week-winning production. However, that also means Harris has not yet hit a five-figure price this year. At least on DraftKings anyway. Other CFL DFS sites using PPR scoring have Harris at as much as $1,000 more expensive than on DK. So format specific advice, but take advantage of Harris price on this site.

Jeshrun Antwi (MTL) $5,300 @ SSK

As long as every questionable RB is active in Week 4, then Jeshrun Antwi is the least expensive starter at the position. Even his backup is more expensive than Antwi on DraftKings. Against a tough defense on the road, Antwi should continue to see volume. He should at least pay off the amount in 50/50 and cash games. However, in tournaments contests, it may be better just to pay up at RB.

Wide Receiver

Greg Ellingson (WPG) $9,000 @ TOR

With Winnipeg’s game on Monday July 4th, a lot can happen between the start of Week 4 and then. But one thing that appears to be somewhat predictable is Greg Ellingson‘s production. He is currently the Blue Bombers leader in catches (13) and receiving yards (218), even though he is not tops in targets. Regardless, of which other wide receivers are active, Ellingson will likely be the most productive pass-catcher on Winnipeg week-in-week-out. And because of that, he can still be considered a value, even at $9,000.

Tim White (HAM) $8,400 vs EDM

Speaking of a team’s top option, Tim White has that distinction on the field, but not in the DraftKings pricing. Like Ellingson with the Blue Bombers, White is leading Hamilton is receptions (19) and receiving yards (216) while not leading in targets. So if even White has a monster target game, watch out. And I know I have already mentioned it this week, but against the Edmonton defense, I expect White to have another productive outing. He is a great stacking candidate for those taking the value QB approach with Dane Evans. Even with out using Evans in a DFS lineup, I still believe White is worth of being selected as a stand-alone Hamilton player.

Dominique Rhymes (BC) $7,800 @ OTT

Because of injuries to other BC Lions receivers, Dominique Rhymes became the go-to-guy on the team. In Week 3, he caught all 8 of his targets for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. It may seem like I am chasing to fantasy points, the truth is, there is no reason why Rhymes can’t replicate that type of box score. And while he did see a price increase, his DraftKings cost did not escalate nearly as much on some other sites (to as much as $9,000). Like Andrew Harris in the RB section of this article, Rhymes is very much a DK only recommendation.

Shaq Johnson (OTT) $4,100 vs BC

Shaq for the stack! Dollar for dollar, my favorite Ottawa WR to pair with the QB Jeremiah Masoli is Shaq Johnson. Now, the issue with Johnson is opportunity. With several other talented pass-catchers on the roster, Johnson has not even hit 10 targets on the season. Granted that is only two games, but there is a special element to Johnson’s play. As mentioned in the QB section, Masoli has only thrown one TD pass this season, and Johnson was the one who caught it. So if Masoli has a multi-touchdown breakout performance like I am anticipating, than I expect Johnson will catch at least one of those.

Now there are legitimate options to stack with Masoli in various WR price ranges. But my favorite RedBlacks receiver stack are below $4,500. Structurally that price tag is important because cheaper receivers would enable to pay up for Masoli, get a stack, and still afford several other elite options.

Deep Dive

Mitchell Picton (SSK) $3,300 vs MTL

Over the last few seasons, significant injuries seem all to common for the Saskatchewan wide receivers. With yet another Roughriders pass-catcher out, other players will be expected to step up. And while certain Saskatcewn wide receivers have seen a step up in price, Mitchell Picton has not. So he still qualifies as a deep dive for this week’s rematch with Montreal, in a game where he should expect his opportunities to increase.

Justin Hardy (OTT) $3,100 vs BC

I’m going to double-up on the deep dive as well as double-up on Ottawa wide receivers to stack with Jeremiah Masoli. This time, it comes in the form of former NFLer Justin Hardy. He is certainly getting the opportunity to produce as he is tied for the team lead in targets with 15. Now, he has not produced nearly as much as the two other receivers he is tied with (only 71 yards on those 15 targets) but he is also only a fraction of the price at $3,100. Combined with Masoli, the total salary of the stack is only $13,100. So Hardy is playable, but because of other solid value options, I would likely only play him if I was stacking with Masoli.

Defense

Hamilton Tiger-Cats $3,400 vs EDM

Normally, I am Going for 2 defensive units in this section. However, this week my top-tier defense, and bargain-cost defense are one and the same. My Week 4 prediction for the top-scoring fantasy defense is Hamilton. And looking at the DraftKings pricing, the Tiger-Cats are the cheapest fantasy defense. The temptation is too much against this Edmonton offense led by arguably the worst starting QB in the league. Take Hamilton as much as you can is my official recommendation.
