Cut ‘Em or Keep ‘Em Week 7: Gordon, Gallup worth holding

Each week trends and game results shape what decisions fantasy managers make regarding their rosters. After the Week 6 slate of games, the decisions don’t get easier in this week’s version of cut ’em or keep ’em.

Melvin Gordon (DEN)

Another week, another disappointing performance from the Bronco offense. However, that wasn’t the game’s only disappointment. Gordon, who was perceived to be at minimal the unquestioned early-down back for the Broncos, ended up last in the pecking order in terms of snaps on Monday night.

Latavius Murray led the running backs in snaps with 27, followed by Mike Boone with 21 snaps, according to PFF. Gordon was a distant third with nine snaps.

Murray totaled 16 touches with one target. Boone had two total touches and four targets, while Gordon had three carries and zero targets.

Seems like the coaching staff has decided to move on from Gordon but I would wait to cut before cutting him loose. Murray finished with only 65 total yards, so he didn’t completely blow the other guys away.

This could’ve been a hot-hand situation, so wait one more week before deciding on Gordon’s future with your fantasy squad.

Michael Gallup (DAL)

Gallup is still working his way back from a torn ACL and he saw his snap count jump from 30 in Week 5 to 51 in Week 6.

The increase in snaps resulted in more targets for Gallup but it did not equal more production. He caught four passes for 44 yards on five targets in Week 5 before catching two of seven targets for 18 yards in Week 6.

Dak Prescott is expected to return soon, so hold on to Gallup to see what this Cowboys’ passing attack looks like when everyone is healthy.

Cut ‘Em

Chase Edmonds (MIA)

Edmonds was touted as a good value pick in the preseason and he has greatly disappointed.

The Dolphins were down to their third-string quarterback in Week 5 and instead of using multiple running backs, the Dolphins opted to give Raheem Mostert 19 touches compared to one for Edmonds.

In Week 6, it wasn’t much better for Edmonds as he saw two rushes for three yards and two targets. Unless Mostert gets injured, Edmonds won’t be fantasy relevant.

Russell Gage (TB)

The Bucs’ offense has been nowhere near as prolific as most thought it would be, so a healthy Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Leonard Fournette have a stronghold on targets. Even with Evans and Godwin sideline at different points this season, Gage has only gotten over 28 receiving yards once with one touchdown.

As long as the Bucs offense continues to struggle, Gage’s floor is non-existent. Cut him for better-producing receivers.
