DFS Yahoo Best Value Player Prices NFL Week 6 (10/17)

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson (BAL) $33 vs LAC

This Chargers @ Ravens game is one I want to stack most of all. It all starts with Baltimore’s QB, Lamar Jackson. He has always been known as a running threat. But in 2021, he may be arguably more dangerous with his arm. While his TD rate (4.8%) is currently below his career average, Jackson is more than making up for it with pure volume. After five games, Jackson is on pace to throw for over 560 pass attempts. He will certainly need it in this matchup with the Chargers. With an over/under of 51.5 points, it is currently the second-highest total on the Sunday slate. Give me the cheaper of the two quarterbacks, and the one with the higher rushing upside.

Teddy Bridgewater (DEN) $25 vs LV

The value play at QB this week is Teddy Bridgewater. Fully healthy and fully entrenched as the Broncos starter, there is little fear that Bridgewater will get benched. In a complete game against the Raiders defense, he should produce great numbers. As with most of the value quarterbacks selections, Bridgewater is better suited for 50/50 or cash games as opposed to GPP or tournament contests.

Running Back

Austin Ekeler (LAC) $33 @ BAL

Going back to the stack in the Chargers-Ravens contest. I already outlined the Baltimore QB. For the Chargers side, the player I view as the best value is Austin Ekeler, who I believe has RB#1 overall upside in Week 6.

One of my resources for matchups is my own invention, the Goal-Line Guide. In this article series, I compare offensive red zone and goal-line efficiency with the defensive efficiency of their opponent. Alongside the week’s implied totals, I combine it all to get what I call the Goal-Line Grade. Each team gets a running and passing score for the TD likelihood. The Chargers ground game Goal-Line Grade is the highest for any team this week.

The beauty with Ekeler is that he is game-script-proof. If my Goal-Line Guide holds true, Ekeler can dominate on the ground with potentially multiple touchdowns. But if the Chargers fall behind, he is a capable pass-catcher. True to form, Ekeler is 3rd on the Chargers in receptions with 23 so far this season.

D’Andre Swift (DET) $20 vs CIN

On to another RB who racks up the receptions. D’Andre Swift presents an even more extreme example of Ekeler. Swift currently leads the Lions in targets (35), catches (29), and receiving yards (252). And at only $20, he presents a massive discount on Ekeler. Now, I am very willing to pay up for Ekeler since I find most other running backs to be overpriced this week. At least until we get down to this range with Swift.

Kareem Hunt (CLE) $19 @ WAS

Another RB in that valuable price range is Kareem Hunt. With the news that his teammate will miss Week 6, Hunt is slated to be the Browns workhorse for at least one game. Again, another pass-catching back. And even in 0.5 PPR (like Yahoo’s DFS format), that can make a difference. Especially since the Browns @ Cardinals matchup is another with an over/under above 50 points. Hunt may be the best way to buy into that contest.

Wide Receiver

For Week 6, I like paying up at most positions other than Wide Receiver. That is because of the incredible value in mid-range of prices. Such as the following players.

Tee Higgins (CIN) $20 @ DET

Last week, I was all-in on the Bengals in Yahoo DFS. I haven’t changed my stripes, just the player I’m outlining. For Week 6, I like Tee Higgins as a value play for only $20. In spite of the fact that Higgins missed 2 games so far this season, he is still tied for the team lead in targets from inside the 5-yard line. Higgins has touchdowns in two of the three games he has played.

Courtland Sutton (DEN) $20 vs LV

The best stack with the Broncos QB might be Courtland Sutton. For Denver’s alpha WR, this should be a great matchup. According to the Goal-Line Guide, the Broncos passing game has the 6th highest Goal-Line Grade for Week 6. I’m expecting big points a decent TD upside for the Denver pass-catchers. And unlike his teammates, Sutton has the high ceiling upside needed for DFS. This is true from a TD perspective, but also from yards in general. So far, Sutton has both of the Broncos two 100-yard receiving games.

CeeDee Lamb (DAL) $19 @ NE

Most weeks this season, CeeDee Lamb has been the highest-priced Cowboys WR on Yahoo’s DFS platform. However, here in Week 6, Lamb’s cost has hit a season-low $19. Dallas has the 4th-best implied total on the Sunday slate at a projected 26.75 points. Lamb offers a very affordable (and fully healthy) option to buy in to the Cowboys offense.

Marquise Brown (BAL) $17 vs LAC

I already wrote about Lamar Jackson in the QB section. While it is possible to play him alone in a 50/50 or cash game, it is best to stack Jackson in GPP or tournament contests. As for those stack options on the Ravens, there are two clear targets. Both WR Marquise Brown and TE Mark Andrews lead Baltimore in red-zone targets, and targets from inside the 5-yard line. The TD upside is strong with both pass-catchers. Either option is strong, but I am highlighting Brown in this article because he is $4 cheaper. Regardless of Andrews’ price, Brown comes in at a great cost. Especially when compared to other wide receivers who have produced as well as Brown has so far this year.

Tight End

Travis Kelce (KC) $30 @ WAS

Travis Kelce is back in the main slate. Play him! Ok, it may not just be that simple, but in a way, it can be because Kelce is such a difference-maker at TE. The first question you ask yourself when making a lineup could be: do I put in Kelce or not? If you chose yes here in Week 6, he comes in at a fairly valuable price. Especially when compared to the other elite players on the Chiefs who are between $38 and $40.

Hunter Henry $15 / Jonnu Smith $14 (NE) vs DAL

This is all about the matchup. Hosting the Cowboys in Week 6, expect the Patriots to put up points in order to keep up. In particular, I want to focus on the TE position. Dallas has allowed the 11th most fantasy points this season to tight ends. This bodes well for both Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. For Henry, he is coming off of back-to-back double-digit fantasy point performances. He has also seen an increase in targets every week.

As for Smith, he leads New England in both red-zone targets and targets from inside the 5-yard line. While Smith oozes with athleticism, he has not been able to put it all together for a monster performance. Smith’s season-best of 5 receptions and 42 receiving yards came all the way back in Week 1. However, this might be the week where he can produce as expected. In terms of how I would play these two, Henry appears to be the better 50/50 or cash game play. Meanwhile, Smith is better suited for GPP or tournament contests.

Deep Dive

RB – Khalil Herbert (CHI) $14 vs GB

Similar to the Kareem Hunt call, this one is all about an injury. In last week’s article, I wrote about Damien Williams as a cheap injury replacement. However, Williams has been put on the Covid-IR and will likely miss the Week 6 matchup. That leaves rookie Khalil Herbert as the Bears lead back. He should see the majority of the RB touches for at least one game.

WR – Adam Humphries (WAS) $10 vs KC

A minimum-priced WR in the Deep Dive section. That was not as automatic this week as usual. Truly, there are not many high upside receivers below the Marquise Brown price range. With all the injuries to Washington pass-catchers, Adam Humphries is one of the few who possess some ceiling. He is coming off a season-best 73-yard performance. In order to make a massive impact, Humphries will need to find the end zone. But at only $10, it is a low-risk chance.

Defense

Los Angeles Rams $13 @ NYG

This week, the elite option, and the value tier are one and the same. I was truly shocked to see the Rams at only $13 going up against a backup QB. A backup QB, with several skill player injuries. The Giants have the second-lowest implied point total this week with a projection of 18.5 points. Even on the road, I like this Rams defense to dominate.
