Top Hitting Options

Chris Sale (DK – $13200, FD – $11800) – At first glance, it looked to be a fun Sale vs. Scherzer day, but Mad Max ends up in an early game so the decision for the best pitcher on the day is an easy one. It’s Chris Sale. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Sale has been absolutely dominant this year with a 2.32 SIERA and 32.3% strikeout rate on the year, raising him to the elite top 5 pitchers in baseball. Sale faces a Red Sox team that has a below average 0.298 wOBA (21st), 84 wRC+ (24th), and 19.3% strikeout rate (7th) against LHP. Over the last 14 days, they’ve been even worse with a 0.281 wOBA (27th) and 73 wRC+ (29th). Sale should dominate Boston and is far and away the top option.

Carlos Martinez (DK – $10300, FD – $10100) – El Gallo’s price has finally caught up with his talent level. Hopefully you’ve been a reader here for a while and benefited from his gross underpricing all season. Despite his price reaching above $10k, Martinez is still a great cash game play as always. On the year, Martinez sports a 3.43 SIERA and 24.7% strikeout rate. The Rockies have struggled on the road with a 0.296 wOBA and 87 wRC+, and 23.8% strikeout rate, which is the worst in baseball. With the high strikeout potential, Martinez makes a great cash game option.

Jimmy Nelson (DK – $7800, FD – $7400) – Nelson has pitched well this year with a 3.94 SIERA and 19.8% strikeout rate. And he’s been slightly better over the last 30 dauys with a 3.74 SIERA and 20.3% strikeout rate. On the other hand, the Cubs have been horrible recently with 0.287 wOBA (26th), 78 wRC+ (27th), and 23.4% strikeout rate (26th). On the year, they also have the second highest strikeout rate against RHP at 24.3%. There is some risk here, making Nelso more of a GPP option than cash, but an argument could be made for pairing him with Sale in cash games too.

Top Hitters

Adam Eaton OF (DK – $4300, FD – $3800) – I gave you Melky Cabrera yesterday, as he was the cheaper White Sox outfielder, but now Cabrera and Eaton are the same price and in a great spot again. Eaton has been on fire of late with a 0.463 wOBA and 0.244 ISO. Steven Wright has also 4.71 SIERA on the year and shouldn’t present much of a challenge for Eaton and the White Sox.

Troy Tulowitzki SS (DK – $3900, FD – $3500) – Draftkings pricing here is a real head scratcher. Tulo faces a lefty, who he’s hit a 0.411 wOBA and 0.208 ISO against on the year. Danny Duffy is not a pitcher to fear and allows a 0.333 wOBA to RHH and has a 4.80 SIERA. The game is also in Rogers Centre, so almost everything is in Tulo’s favor here. He is about $1500 too cheap and will likely be very highly owned, but with good reason. Put him in your cash lineups.

Top Value Play

David Lough (DK – $2000, FD – $2200) or Chris Parmalee (DK – $2000, FD – $2200) – The Orioles face a weak righty in Alfredo Simon and if either Lough or Parmalee is hitting at the top of the order, they make a great punt play with their minimum salary and platoon advantage.
