Draftkings and Fanduel MLB Lineup Advice 7/31/15 by RotoTrick

Today’s slate is full of aces in less than ideal matchups, including Clayton Kershaw. Since Kershaw’s price has risen to close to $15k, there are probably better values, especially considering there is some risk due to his hip soreness. But no one could blame you for rolling with Kershaw, as he’s the clear best pitcher in baseball and riding a 29 inning scoreless streak.

Top Hitting Options

Madison Bumgarner (DK – $10300, FD – $11400) – The elite pitcher I think in the best spot is MadBum. Despite a reputation as a strong offense, the Rangers have really struggled with a below average 0.294 wOBA (23rd), 80 wRC+ (25th), and 23.1% strikeout rate (25th) against LHP. And while he doesn’t have Kershaw numbers, Bumgarner has pitched great this year with a 3.24 SIERA and 24.6% strikeout rate. He’s also the 3rd biggest favorite on the day at -170, giving him a good chance at the win and making a nice value play that will likely be under owned, especially with the fear of the Texas heat.

Ian Kennedy (DK – $6900, FD – $7800) – Kennedy makes a great cheap pitching option if you’re looking to load up on bats or spend down for your SP2. Kennedy has been sneakily good this year with a 3.73 SIERA and 21.7% strikeout rate. His opponent, the Marlins, don’t scare anyone with their 0.289 wOBA (29th) and 20.1% strikeout rate (16th). He makes a nice value play, but he’s definitely a better GPP option as he comes with some risk and the win is no guarantee as run support is always an issue for the Padres.

Other Options: Matt Harvey, Michael Wacha, Danny Salazar

Top Hitters

Chris Davis 1B (DK – $4400, FD – $4000) – Davis has raked recently with a 0.415 wOBA and 0.370 ISO over the last 14 days. He shouldn’t slow down at all today with possibly the best matchup on the day in Buck Farmer. Farmer has allowed 14 runs in 13.2 IP for a 9.22 ERA, along with a 0.497 wOBA to LHH and 0.423 wOBA to RHH. The Orioles should be all over Farmer and Davis should be in for another big day.

Gregory Polanco (DK – $3500, FD – $2500) – Polanco has the platoon advantage against a weak pitcher in Mike Lorenzen and plays today’s game in one of the best hitters’ parks, yet he’s only $3500 on DK. On the year, Lorenzen allows a 0.454 wOBA to LHH and Polanco will be leading off for a Pirates team that should put up quite a few runs.

Top Value Play

Nolan Reimold (DK – $2600, FD – $2400) – The Orioles have continued to suffles which cheap outfielder hits at the top of their order, but Reimold has received quite a few recently and with an elite matchup against Buck Farmer, he’s a near lock if hitting high in the order for the Orioles.

Top Stacks

Baltimore Orioles vs. Buck Farmer (DET)

Pittsburg Pirates vs. Michael Lorenzen (PIT)

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Kyle Kendricks (COL)

San Francisco Giants vs. Nick Martinez (TEX)
