Top Pitching Options

Chris Sale (DK – $12000, FD – $11500) – The stars have finally aligned for Chris Sale and Max Scherzer to pitch on the same slate on the same day and both are in similar matchups against teams slightly above average wOBA and slightly below average strikeout rates. Both have also hit slight bumps in the road lately. Sale, however, comes in at $1500 cheaper on DK and $1000 cheaper on FD, giving him the nod as the top play. Sale has a 2.56 SIERA and 32.0% strikeout rate on the year and his opponent, the Rays, sport a 0.321 wOBA and 21.7% strikeout rate on the year. The win will be tough against Chris Archer, but Sale should put up plenty of innings and strikeouts to meet value.

Jimmy Nelson (DK – $8200, FD – $7600) – Nelson has been solid this year with a 3.92 SIERA and 20.3% strikeout rate. He’s also topped 20 DK points in each of his last four outings and gets another nice matchup against the struggling Padres. Sand Diego has a 0.294 wOBA (27th), 90 wRC+ (T21st), and 22.0% strikeout rate (26th) vs. RHP. Nelson makes a nice value play and can be used in both cash games and GPPs.

Top Hitting Options

Adrian Gonzalez 1B (DK – $4000, FD – $3300) – AGon is about as unspectacularly reliable as they come. Gonzalez has a 0.293 BA on the year with 21 HRs and 61 RBI, both top 20 in baseball, yet he seems to always fly under the radar. On the year, he also has a 0.391 wOBA and 0.261 ISO against RHP and gets a great matchup against Jerome Williams who allows a 0.354 wOBA to LHH. He’s a great cheap cash game option at first base if you’re looking to pay up for two of the top pitchers on today’s slate.

Troy Tulowitzki (DK – $3900, FD – $4500) – Phil Hughes is an extreme fly ball pitcher heading to one of the best parks in baseball for homeruns and faces the most power heavy team in baseball. Things could get very ugly. Tulo is priced under $4k again for some reason. Although he destroys lefties, he’s also no slouch against RHP with a 0.344 wOBA and 0.170 ISO. Hughes has allowed a 0.369 wOBA to RHH and should get lit up by the Blue Jays righty heavy lineup, starting with Tulo.

Kyle Seager 3B (DK – $3800, FD – $4200) – Seager’s price has inexplicable dropped $900 on Draftkings. He was set to face a lefty in Chris Rusin (albeit a very weak one) and now gets a rookie righty in Jonathan Gray. Seager had a double, HR, 3 runs, and a stolen base in last nights game and should be in for more of the same tonight. At this price, lock him in.

Top Value Play

Ketel Marte SS (DK – $2000, FD – $3500) – Still likely leading off at Coors. Gets a rookie pitcher making his first start this time and is still minimum price on Draftkings. Despite turning in a dud yesterday, he’s still a great play at a weak position today.
