Top Pitching Options

Zack Greinke (DK – $13500, FD – $12600) – It’s a bleak pitching slate and to compound things further, the day is split between early and late into two small 5 game slates. The best pitcher on the day is from the early slate, and it’s Zack Greinke. Greinke boasts a 3.18 SIERA and 23.2% strikeout rate on the year. Some of the shine has worn off Greinke, as he’s let up 2 runs in each of his last two outings, but both were qulifty starts and he’s likely to do it again against the Phillies. Despite their recent recurgence, the Phillies are still bottom of the league vs. RHP with a 0.293 wOBA (29^th), 84 wRC+ (29^th), and 19.0% strikeout rate (10^th). The strikeout upside isn’t huge here, but Greinke is a tremendous cash game option for the day slate.

Chris Heston (DK – $9800, FD – $7900) – The top pitcher on the evening slate is easily Chris Heston. Heston has been strong this year with a 3.58 wOBA and 19.1% strikeout rate on the year. He faces a Cubs team that has the perception of having a strong offense but in reality really struggles against righties. The Cubs have a 0.298 wOBA (24^th), 88 wRC+ (27^th), and 24.4% strikeout rate (30^th) vs. RHP. The win isn’t guaranteed facing Jason Hammel, but Heston should get enough Ks and go deep enough to pay off his salary.

Top Hitting Options

Matt Carpenter 3B (DK – $4800, FD – $3200) – Every time Michael Lorenzen pitches, you should target the top lefties going against him and the Cardinals have a pretty good one in Matt Carpenter. Lorenzen allows a 0.438 wOBA to LHH and Capenter has a 0.375 wOBA and 0.199 ISO against RHP. He’s one of the better bargains at a price below $5K of DK and only $3.2K on FD, making him a solid cash or GPP play.

Andre Ethier OF (DK – $3500, FD – $2700) – The string of days Ethier is a solid play continue as the Dodgers face another weak righty in David Buchanan. Buchanan allows a 0.411 wOBA to LHH and Ethier has a 0.376 wOBA and 0.212 ISO against RHH on the year. He’s been hitting cleanup the last few games and should continue to in this one, making his a nice play again.
