Top Pitching Options

Clayton Kershaw (DK – $15000, FD – $00) – When Kershaw is pitching on the slate, the conversation has to start with him. His price is back up at $15k on Draftkings, but he’s likely worth it again against the Pirates. Kershaw has a ridiculous 2.13 SIERA and 33.6% strikeout rate and I’ll continue to remind you, those are both the best in baseball. The Pirates are a good team, which may scare some people off him, but they have stuggled against lefties. The Pirates have an average 0.305 wOBA (16th), 96 wRC+ (12th) and below average 23.4% strikeout rate (27th) on the year. Even at $15K, Kershaw will very likely hit 2X ROI and have a shot at 3X with the plus strikeout potential against the Pirates. Fire him up in cash games and GPPs.

Jacob deGrom (DK – $12100, FD – $00) – If you don’t want to pay the heft price on Kershaw, want to go contrarian, or want to pay big bucks for two pitchers, deGrom is an excellent second choice. deGrom has been the ace of the Mets staff chalk full of talent, with a 2.97 SIERA and 26.2% strikeout rate on the year. He gets a nice matchup against the Rays, who hit LHP very well but have but up below average numbers against RHP – 0.296 wOBA (28th), 91 wRC+ (24th), and 22.2% strikeout rate (28th). With the new and improved Mets offense providing some run support, deGrom has a great chance for a win and makes a great play in both cash games and GPPs as well.

Aaron Nola (DK – $6000, FD – $00) – If you’re looking to dig down cheap to match with Kershaw or deGrom, Aaron Nola offers great value and is underpriced for this matchup. Nola has pitched very well in his first 3 starts in the majors, putting up a 3.27 SIERA and 20.8% strikeout rate. He’s also put up double digit DK points in each outing and gets another great matchup against the meek Padres offense. The Padres have a 0.296 wOBA (27th), 91 wRC+ (21st), and 21.9% strikeout rate (26th) against RHP. There is always risk with a rookie pitcher, but Nola has pretty good upside here and allows you to fit a few more bats in your lineup.

Top Hitting Options

Lorenzo Cain (DK – $4700, FD – $00) – Cain is always a great cash game play, because he had get you to double digits by hitting a homerun or stealing a base. He’s definitely in play today, as the Royals face John Danks. Danks has allowed a 0.377 wOBA to RHH and has a 4.64 SIERA on the year. The Royals should jump all over Danks in this one with Cain right in the thick of it.

Jacobu Ellsbury (DK – $4100, FD – $00) – Dickey has not been sharp this year. He has a 4.70 SIERA and only 14.9% strikeout rate. $4100 is way too cheap for the leadoff hitter for one of the hottest offenses in baseball right now. Ellsbury is surprisingly a great value play.
