Top Pitching Options

Johnny Cueto (DK – $10500) – Scherzer is the most dominant pitcher on this slate, but he has a tough matchup against the Blue Jays, even without the DH. The Blue Jays have a 0.323 wOBA vs. RHP, which is 4^th in baseball. Scherzer makes a decent GPP play, but Cueto makes the best play on the day to me. Cueto was scratched from his last start, but threw all of his pitches during his bullpen sessions this week, so shouldn’t be limited in this start. Cueto has a 3.28 SIERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 23.5% strikeout rate on the year. The Reds face a weak Phillies team that is last in baseball with an atrocious 0.269 wOBA and 20.0% strikeout rate vs. RHP. As a -165 favorite against Sean O’Sullivan and the Phillies, Cueto makes a strong play.

Noah Syndergaard (DK – $8100) – All hail the mighty Thor! Syndergaard has been great in all three of his starts, letting up only 2 runs total. Although a small sample, he has a 3.51 SIERA and 21.8% strikeout rate so far and faces a cold Padres team in pitcher friendly Petco Park. San Diego has a 0.289 wOBA (28^th) and 21.7% strikeout rate (24^th) vs. RHP. The Padres got dominated by deGrom yesterday and should get more of the same today against Syndergaard.

Top Hitting Options

Joc Pederson OF (DK – $4600 – Joc was my top play yesterday and he delivered – hitting a three-run home run and tallying 18 DK points. He’s still at Coors and his price went DOWN $300. Doesn’t make sense but I’ll take him again at a great price.

Matt Carpenter 3B (DK – $4200) – The Brewers pitcher, Tyler Cravy, is making his MLB debut after a 4.04 ERA and 1.28 WHIP at AAA. Those aren’t intimidating numbers and he’s only up for a spot start. The Brewer’s bullpen is also taxed, so the Cardinals should jump all over them today. Carpenter has a 0.425 wOBA and 0.248 ISO vs. RHP this year and is a very modest price at 3B.
