I’m back at it again! Five weeks down and you should be already looking ahead, planning for bye weeks and most importantly, the coveted playoff spots. As we continue to hold our breath each week as the NFL navigates the battle against COVID, it adds another element of strategy and mostly luck, to our favorite game. Let’s take a look at some players that you should hold onto for another week and some players that you can cut ASAP.
Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons QB (21/37 for 226 yards and 1 INT)
Matt Ryan has now gone two straight games without a TD. In fact, the last time Matt Ryan scored a TD was in the first quarter, three games ago, back on September 27th! This isn’t a total “Matt Ryan problem” as this team is a mess on both sides of the ball. But with Julio Jones fading fast, this offense is looking different already. If you’re fed up and ready to look for other options, I’m with you. But I might wait this out one more week. Head Coach Dan Quinn and GM Thomas Dimitroff were fired within 24 hours of their most recent loss. This could change the outlook for the Falcons offense. I want to see how this week goes and give Ryan ONE more shot. Verdict: Keep ‘Em
Tyler Higbee – Los Angeles Rams TE (2 receptions for 12 yards)
Tyler Higbee was one of the most talked about names this offseason. Analysts were touting him to be a top 8 TE this season and it’s not looking that way five games into the season. With the exception of Higbee’s 3 TD performance against the Philadelphia Eagles in week two, Tyler Higbee has underwhelmed in all games this year. In fact, in week five, TE Gerald Everett saw 4 targets compared to Higbee’s 2 targets. Higbee saw 82% of snaps and Everett saw 44% of snaps. I see Gerald Everett beginning to take over as Jared Goff‘s go to tight end. Verdict: Cut ‘Em
Scotty Miller – Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR (Zero Targets!)
This one still perplexes me. I thought Scotty Miller was supposed to be the “Julian Edelman” to Tom Brady on this team? Granted, Miller has been battling hip and groin injuries, but he still played 45 snaps, which was third most in the receiver corps. Previous to week five, Miller had 21 targets in four games, averaging 5.25 targets per game. When the Bucs offense gets healthy again, I am going to want a share of this offense. Be patient and stash Scotty where you can! Verdict: Keep ‘Em
A.J. Green – Cincinnati Bengals WR (One Target; Zero Receptions)
You might have trouble believing this, but after the first two weeks of the season, A.J. Green had already racked up 22 targets! However, he only has had 12 targets since then, culminating in 6 receptions for 39 yards (That’s in three games combined!). I was always rooting for a comeback with a rookie QB, but I think that ship has sailed. I’m ready to cut ties. Verdict: Cut ‘Em
Michael Gallup – Dallas Cowboys WR (4 receptions for 73 yards)

Michael Gallup went into this season being touted as the WR2 behind Amari Cooper. However, it appears as if CeeDee Lamb has passed him on the depth chart rather quickly and Gallup is continuing to lose a target share to Cooper and Lamb each week. However, Gallup made two HUGE receptions downfield on the final drive, with Andy Dalton at QB, to lead the Cowboys to their second victory of the season. I want to hold Gallup for another week or two just to see what his rapport with Andy Dalton is like. Verdict: Keep ‘Em
