Fantasy Football: Week 6 Cut’em or Keep’em

Week 5 of the NFL fantasy season has come and gone, leaving all of our head’s spinning. At this point, you’re possibly asking yourself “who do I drop” or “is this guy worth stashing one more week”? I’m here to help you all make those pesky Week 6 decisions on who you should cut or keep.

So, let’s jump into it fantasy football fans, here’s my Week 6 GF2 cut’em or keep’em list:

Alshon Jeffery, WR Bears

Jeffery is owned in 96.4 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Here’s the deal with Jeffery, you most likely used a 4th or 5th Round pick on him, so it’s hard to let him go. I believe when he does indeed return to the field, he will be a massive guy to own for your fantasy playoff push. We’re talking about a guy in 2014 who caught 85 balls for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns on 145 total targets. Cutler loves to throw the ball to Jeffery, so he is a valuable asset to not only the Bears but also to your fantasy squad. I know both Jeffery and fantasy owners are growing frustrated, but don’t let go of this fantasy gem just yet.

Verdict: Keep’em

Matthew Stafford, QB Lions

Stafford is owned in 64.6 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. It’s officially time to hit the panic button Stafford owners! He was benched in the fourth quarter this week versus the Cardinals, but it was for more precautionary reasons honestly. So far this season, Stafford has thrown for 1,205 yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions. He owns a dreadful 47.2 QBR and has completed 64.6 percent of his passes. As a Calvin Johnson owner, I watch a lot of Detroit’s games and I just haven’t been impressed this year whatsoever by Stafford. I say it’s time to cut your losses and grab a Marcus Mariota type of player for your team.

Verdict: Cut’em

Golden Tate, WR Lions

Tate is owned in 87.7 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Yes, I just said to cut your losses with Stafford, but Tate is a different story for me. Each week I see glimpses of talent from him that keeps me holding on to hope that he’ll get back to his 2014 form. This season, he has caught 26 passes for 264 yards and no touchdowns. He has seen 47 targets from Stafford, though, and averages 52.8 yards per game. In most standard leagues, Tate is still a solid flex option if the matchup is right, so hold on to him for just a bit longer and hope for that breakout type of game.

Verdict: Keep’em

Tevin Coleman, RB Falcons

Coleman is owned in 63.2 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. I’ve been publicly skeptical about the other Falcons’ running back Devonta Freeman, but each week he just keeps getting better. Coleman has got off to a rough start to his rookie campaign, missing games due to injury and now losing time to Freeman. So far this season, Coleman has rushed just 31 times for 115 yards and a touchdown. In Week 5, he made his return to the field following his rib injury and only rushed to ball two times for three yards. It is time to look elsewhere for running back help other than Coleman.

Verdict: Cut’em

Kendall Wright, WR Titans

Wright is owned in 81.5 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. Wright is a boom or bust kind of player who I loathe owning in my leagues. You just have to know when is a suitable time to play the guy, if you play him the right week he could pay off big time! So far this year, Wright has caught 16 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. His next three matchups are fairly favorable versus wide receivers, though. He plays Miami, Atlanta and Houston who have all had their moments this season getting burned on defense. I’d hold on to Wright just a bit longer if I were you guys.

Verdict: Keep’em
