As we get ready for week 6, we have some changes in the world of IDP Fantasy Football. The Arizona Cardinals inked a deal with one of the best pass rushers to ever play the game, Dwight Freeney. To be clear, I’m not telling you to go out and sign him, but, he is worth watching on the wire as a potential grab.
Luke Kuechly has been released from concussion protocol, it looks like we will more than likely get him back on our rosters this week. Props to A.J Klein, for stepping in and doing his job the past 4 weeks. Klein can be dropped now.

We also have news coming out of Houston. Few defenses have been hit with injuries like them. They have lost their best CB, Jonathan Joseph and their best LB, Brian Cushing. Cushing has yet to practice this week, so if you own him, you might want to start looking into a week 6 replacement. The big news out of Houston is Jadeveon Clowney opened up the week missing practice. He is listed as day to day and the Texans expect him to play, but, his status should be monitored. It’s time to get real, he hasn’t made an impact healthy, it could be wise to sit him, while he is banged up.

The big news coming into this week comes straight out of Denver. DeMarcus Ware, suffered a back injury in week 5, he is expected to miss the next 2 weeks. This I a blow to the Denver defense, but, at least they have Shane Ray to step up and fill the void.

A little bit of good news for DeAndre Levy owners, he managed to play 17 snaps in week 5, so he is coming along and I would expect his snap count to climb each week. The Lions have gotten off to such a bad start, they aren’t going to rush him back into things. I would sit him until I see he is back to playing his regular snap count, or close to it.

Morgan Burnett missed yet another week of action. Much like the Lions, with Levy, the Packers won’t risk playing him, until he is 100 percent. Which is smart, they are undefeated and have no reason to risk further injury. I wouldn’t expect to get him back in your lineups until after the Packers week 7 bye.

Chris Long left many IDP owners holding their breath, when he went down with a knee injury. It appears he hyperextended the knee, reports out of S.T. Louis indicate he will be ready to go in week 6. We should monitor this situation closely if we own Long.

Dont’a Hightower exited the game in the first quarter with a rib injury. While we really haven’t gotten much news beyond that, he is listed as questionable for week 6, we will have to monitor this situation. Should he miss time, Jerod Mayo, will step in to fill his role and has potential to play every down. The smart move is to roster Mayo now and see if Hightower can go, if not, you have Mayo.

Telvin Smith-LB-Jaguars

This is a guy who has definitely been flying under the radar to start the season. He is currently a top 5 IDP at the LB position and leads the NFL in tackles.

If you need LB help look no further, he consistently gets opportunities to score, he is more than just a one week fill in, so if you get him, I suggest you roster him for the long-term.

Avery Williamson-LB-Titans

Last week he had his coming out party, getting a sack and having a hand in 9 tackles, both season highs for him. Certain things happened during that game that suggest this is the type of statline we can expect moving forward.

The benching of Zach Brown is terrible for Brown owners, but helps Avery’s value. Brown isn’t going to be an every down LB for the Titans, he should split time with Wesley Woodand moving forward. This will leave Avery Williamson, as the only every down LB on the Titans. I’m expecting a surge in his numbers, if he is available in your league, go out and get him.

Danny Trevathan-LB-Broncos

With all the additions this defense has made over the past 2 season, Trevathan has fallen to the back burner and has traveled well below the fantasy radar.

He had a solid performance in week 5 and he gets A great matchup, against the Browns in week 6. The Browns have allowed to most points to opposing LBs this season.

This could be your last chance to grab him, before every GM in your league is looking at him. I’m expecting him to work his way into being an every down LB in this defense again.

Jay Ratliff-DT-Bears

He missed be first 4 weeks of the season, but, finally took the field last week. He posted 4 tackles and 1 sack. He is available to you right now, because, he missed the first 4 weeks, so he went largely unnoticed in most leagues.
He is a solid pass rusher, evident in his 6.5 sacks last season. Now that he is healthy again and the Bears are desperate for a pass rushing presence, he is worth a roster spot.

Week 6 Sleeper

Malik Jackson-DL-Broncos

This week, the matchup is there for the Broncos line to get after the QB. The Browns have allowed the 3rd most sacks on the season. The absence of DeMarco Ware will afford the Browns an opportunity to focus on Von Miller and Shane Ray. This will leave an opportunity for Malik Jackson to make some plays. If you’re desperate for defensive line production this week, he can be a sneaky start
