Free NFL FanDuel Cash LineUp For Week 3, Sunday 9/25

Every week during the NFL season I’ll be publishing my cash game lineup for FanDuel and the rationale behind all my selections. Hopefully, we’ll use this line up to double our money in our cash lineups.

Again, this is my cash game lineup, and while I always put it in a few GPPs, there are other players at a couple of positions better suited for tournaments.

Note FanDuel has changed their Main contests from Sunday-Monday to Sunday only, to line up with DraftKings and their advertising claims of “one day fantasy.” Therefore I’ve changed as well. This lineup is for the FanDuel Main slate. Don’t use this in the Sunday – Monday contests, as you’ll want plenty of exposure to the 54 point O/U Monday night game!

QB Ben Roethlisberger ($8,400) Roethlisberger has been on fire this season, throwing for 559 yards and three TDs in his first two games, without his full complement of weapons. He should have #2 WR Markus Wheaton back for this game. The O/U is a respectable 46.5, but it should be higher in my opinion. The Eagles defense has looked good statistically, but they’ve played the Browns and Bears, two of the most inept offenses in the NFL. Roethlisberger should have no problem carving them up.

RB David Johnson ($8,400) David Johnson is one of the best young running backs in the NFL, and he’s a throwback to the three down back, a dying breed in the NFL. Johnson has run for 134 yards on 28 carries and a TD, but has also caught 7 passes for 151 yards. He’ll face a Bills defense that was destroyed by Matt Forte and the Jets for 37 points.

RB Melvin Gordon ($7,100) Some people are still a little gun-shy about Gordon, given his performance last season. He’s turned it around in 2016 and he’s in a great spot here. This game has the highest O/U on the slate at 52 and the Colts have given up 38.3 FD points PER GAME to opposing RBs (the next most is 29.15.) Dexter McCluster was signed to fill in for the injured Danny Woodhead, but Gordon should have the backfield mostly to himself until McCluster gets up to speed with his new team.

WR Jarvis Landry ($7,000) As most of you know, I like to target teams’ #1 WRs for cash games and Landry is the very definition of a #1 WR. Through 2 games, Landry has been targeted 23 times and turned them into 17 receptions for 194 yards. He gets to face a Cleveland defense, who have only faced rookie Carson Wentz and the Ravens popgun offense, rated 22nd against the pass by Football Outsiders. Fellow WR DeVante Parker is questionable for the game.

WR Sterling Shepard ($6,500) News out of Washington is that star CB Josh Norman will be shadowing Odell Beckham Jr on Sunday. Washington’s other CB Bashaud Breeland, who’s been burned in both games this season, should draw the rookie Shepard, who has been targeted 12 times for 11 catches for 160 yards and a TD. The game features a 47.5 O/U and Washington’s pass defense is ranked 20th by Football Outsiders.

WR Stefon Diggs ($6,400) I’m not expecting a repeat of Diggs’ Monday night performance against the Packers in which he hauled in 9 of his 11 targets for 182 yards and a TD. However, I am expecting a strong performance against a Carolina team which has allowed 48 points against Trevor Siemian and Blaine Gabbert. With Adrian Peterson out. the Vikings’ best bet to move the ball will be through the air and QB Sam Bradford has shown that he’s perfectly comfortable going to Diggs.

TE Delanie Walker ($6,900) Oakland’s defense has been historically bad to begin the season, so some exposure to the Titan’s passing game is in order.Oakland has allowed over 1000 yards in total defense and 808 yards through the air, in only two games. Let that sink in for a moment. Walker is the Titans’ most reliable receiver and scored 17.6 FD points last week against the Lions. I expect more of the same on Sunday.

K Dan Bailey ($4,700) Statistically, Dan Bailey is the most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL. He’s at home, in a dome, with a reasonably high O/U and his team favored to win. Dak Prescott and the offense have had trouble in the redzone, making Bailey a very safe play.

DEF Miami Dolphins ($4,600) Cleveland was bad when Robert Griffin III was the QB in Week 1 and they were bad when Josh McCown was the QB in Week 2. Now they trot out rookie Cody Kessler in Week 3, who won’t have the benefit of first round draft pick WR Corey Coleman, who broke his hand in practice. Miami will be the chalk play here, but sometimes you have to go with the chalk.

Edit: It’s looking increasingly unlikely that Delanie Walker will be playing Sunday, due to a hamstring injury. Should Walker sit out (and I’m proceeding as if he will) I’ll be replacing him with Jordan Reed and replacing Sterling Shepard with Tajae Sharpe, who should benefit from Walker’s absence.
