MLB DFS Lineup Advice for Draftkings and Fanduel – 4/25/16

//

With two top flight aces on the mound today and a Coors matchup, decisions need to be made between paying for pitching or hitting. Let’s look at the top options on the board today.

Top Pitchers

Madison Bumgarner (DK – $12,000, FD – $11,000) – Bumgarner got back on track in his last outing against the Diamondbacks and gets a fluff matchup hear against the Padres. Last year the Padres had a .294 wOBA (23rd) and 23.3% strikeout rate against LHH and they didn’t do much to improve their team in the offseason. Bumgarner is a -200 favorite and the Padres have a measly team total of just 2.67, making MadBum a safe and terrific cash game option.

Noah Syndergaard (DK – $11.400, FD – $11,400) – Even though I like Bumgarner’s matchup more today, I feel obligated to mention Thor because his upside is so high. On Draftkings, he’s a bit cheaper so a case could be made for taking him in cash and saving a few bucks, but he’s a great GPP play on both, as he could easily hit double digit strikeouts in any game. Plus, a case could be made for play both aces on DK.

Taijuan Walker (DK – $9,000, FD – $8,000) – If you’re looking for off the radar option in GPPs I love Walker today. The Astros are coming off a Sunday night game that went to extra innings and then have to fly to Seattle for today’s game. The Astros obviously have big K upside in any game and Walker can take advantage of that. Walker had a 3.69 SIERA and 22.2% strikeout rate last year and is off to a good start this year with a 3.17 SIERA and 1.50 ERA. He may get overlooked today with other big names on the slate, but has huge upside in a GPP.

Drew Pomeranz (DK – $6,600, FD – $6,700) – If you’re looking to go cheap in a GPP of as an SP2, Pomeranz is ridiculously underpriced. Pomeranz is locked in this year with a 3.16 SIERA and 34.7% strikeout rate. While there is likely some regression coming there, it’s not enough regression to warrant his extremely low price. He offers a lot of value in cash or GPPs.

Top Hitters

Josh Donaldson (DK – $4,700, FD – $5,400) – People love to target the Blue Jays, and Donaldson specifically, against lefties. And rightly so because they destroy them. However, their numbers against righties are still pretty impressive and their ownership is always a bit lower. Donaldson had a .390 wOBA and .256 ISO vs. RHH last year, which would be impressive fore any hitter with a platoon advantage. The Jays ownership may be higher today due to their matchup and appealing price (DK), but the Blue Jays have a chance to go off today and Donaldson should lead the way.

Michael Conforto (DK – $3,100, FD – $3,500) – Since moving up to third in the lineup, Conforto has been solid and a staple of my cash games, as her’s just so cheap. He gets the platoon again today against Iglesias and his price has dropped a bit like Iglesias is an ace. While he’s a good pitcher, he’s nothing we should be afraid of yet.

Mitch Moreland (DK – $3,700, FD – $3,100) – It will be hot in Texas today, Moreland will have the platoon advantage, and he always get overlooked on DK for Prince Fielder. He’s a great GPP option.
